I also enjoyed it. It turned out well, after very short notice and little advertising. It was only flyers, forum, facebook and Goodhope FM. It was on the radio since last week Wed.
Reasoning of short notice (as I mentioned earlier in this thread and the other thread) was cos there wasnt a set date yet, until all of a sudden there was. Advertising couldnt happen until a date was set. They were told, at the beginning of Feb, that the set date is 21 March.
So they only had 6 weeks to get their ideas of the events for the day into place, get flyers made, etc and inform everyone out there about the event.
And it was also the long weekend, alot of people went away.

Yeah, I heard that the guys at the gate were clueless about where the park off was. It was on the go kart track. The show and shine was on the gravel behind the new pits.

I was there from 7:45 to setup SMG's gazebo, etc. I parked my 130i on the go kart track to show where everyone should start parking their cars. Then I moved it at about 9 for the track sessions.
I only did 1 session, ....(I always do the monthly track days, so I wasnt missing out)... cos I decided to rather watch all the beemers go on the track and chat to people in the pit lane about their cars etc, and supervise SMG's stand.

The parade lap was awesome. Gary lead the pack in my 130i with Ken in his M3. I was in the 2nd row in the M3, that was parked under SMG's gazebo in the new pits.
The M3 convertible, from SMG (which came late, to be on display), was in row 5.
When we drove out of turn 1, we saw the last car entering turn 3. Half the parade was in 2 lanes and the rest in single file..... Did anyone count how many cars there were in the parade.

I was passenger in Ken's car when he did the Donuts/Drift session. He was incredible.

I stayed till just after 4:30, to watch the afternoon session (open track day). A few beemers did the afternoon session.

It was great meeting some of you. I think we need to do a breakfast run again soon or a meet up, so that we can meet more of us and get to know each other.

Got there early, parked on the go-kart track and enjoyed the cars on the track, m5's, blue m3 v8 and the black 135 did amazing manoeuvres on the track. Pity the forum guys was few and hard to find. Good entertainment though. Left around 1230.

Hey,

I was there in my E46 330i and my buddy in his E46 325i.. What an awesome trackday.. Had great fun pushing the 330i around the track.

Stayed for the afternoon session, but soon realised I had cooked the back brake pads :)

Kabal's M3 sounds the bomb and he was bloody quick.

I enjoyed pushing and overtaking the auto 335i. Admitedly in the 3rd session with a passener and cooked brakes I couldnt catch him again :)

Carbon130i it was great to meet you, thanks for all your help on the day.. Your car looks fantastic...

Cheers all for a great day, count me in, in the future.

Was great meeting you as well. Its a pleasure. Thanks.

As you guys enjoyed this event, you should come to the monthly "open track day".

Kabal, Ken (the blue M3) and I are always there. The next 1 is on the 11 April at 2pm.

Hope to see you all there

1. BMWFanatics.co.za stand - this would have served as a meet and greet, buy stickers, etc (Maybe incorporated with one of the clubs sponsors - as the sponsors also need to get mileage?)

There is a good reason for the lack of this very thing, I will not go into it again though, please read page 1 and 2 of this thread.

I got to the TRack Day early on Sunday and had a really good time.
Maybe next time the sessions could be a bit longer and broken into classes...

A:thumbsup:ll in all it was great fun, but would have been nice if it lasted a bit longer!!

Would love a breakfast run to get to meet the guys in person and see what you are all driving.

Im a newbie to bmwfanatics and must say that Sunday was great! BMW heaven!

The track was good. My husband took my 325ti out to gage it:thumbsup: Would be nice if there were different classes tho. My poor V6 cant compare to those V8s and 10s...

But all in all an awesome track day.

Looking forward to more...
