Everyone must go through that gate.

You can go the other gate but then you'll have to drive all the way round, past the skidpan then onto the dirt road and eventually end up by the go kart track/new pit area. If you got a low spoiler/bumper you'll have problems on the dirt road section

I know it's very short notice, but maybe we could all meet up at Killarney at a certain time? Then we can meet some of the newer members. I'm thinking around 12 PM? Maybe at the Go-Cart Track?? What do you guys think?

X marks the meeting spot:
The Yellow line is where we are suppose to enter.

Can anyone please confirm that the Festival is still on for this coming Sunday 21 march 2010?

It is still on. What makes you think its not happy.

12:20 is a good idea. Cos at about 12:30 ALL the BMW's will be going onto the track for a Parade lap. At the same time they'll tell us how the parade lap will start. (The lining up etc. I know that it'll be either 2 or 3 cars abreast and doing 30km/h) Or we can do the meetup after the Parade.

Registration for the track starts at 9.

Remember to wear long pants, long sleeved top, 'closed' shoes and a helmet, if you wanna go on the track. Otherwise they wont let you on.

I'll be there at 8. Gotta setup SMG's stand. If you wanna find me throughout the day, I'll be wearing a black M t-shirt, shorts or jeans (taking both), and a plain black cap. Most of the time I'll be at SMG's stand or on the track

The festival was quite good, very different to the usual drags, etc. I have not seen so many BMW's in one place ever! It was amazing to see all those wonderful machines on from 2002's to e92's.

The show had its good as well as its bad points, but this is usually the case with the first show.

The parkoff was ok, not as great as i expected, but ok. There were not enough cars parked off in the area and the "marshall" at the entrance was not much help at all. All he did was take our details and that was it. No direction as to where to go which way to go, where to park, etc. I asked him about the parade lap and what the procedure was and he was even more clueless than i was!
Eventually i found my way around the go kart track and parked quite close to RapidoWP(Nice meeting you). The cars that were parked there were a very nice mix of old and new BMW's. E30 320i, 325i, 325is, e36 325i, 328i, e46 320d, 320i, 330i, E90 330i to name but a few.
All the cars were in a great condition and looked like they came off the showroom floor.

On to the track racing.... It was amazing! Seeing modified e30's normally aspirated and turbo charged, a 135i, 335i, e46 M3, E36 M3, E92 M3, M5 V8's and E46 330's all mixing it up was unbelievable. Watching the E92 M3 going sideways into turn 2 and then seeing the M5's following suit was a sight to see! Even the 135i went drifting around those bends. All in all the track racing was superb and words can't aptly describe it.

The parade lap was also great fun. All the BMW's that made it to Killarney were asked to pull on to the track and go for a lap or two past the crowds. I was about in the middle of the entire field and it was amazing to see so many different models of BMW's ahead of me and behind me.

Now on to the show and shine.... Where was it? I could not find it. I looked by the pits, by the oval, by the go kart track, on the gravel parking, by the old pits, but it was no where to be found. I got there at 11am so maybe i missed it? I would have liked to enter maybe next time.

Overall the show was good and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. I will attend the next one as it was good fun. Just sort out the teething issues and it will be great.

i got there at around 9am, luckily i knew the supposed layout, so i was just looking for the go-kart pit-lane... didn't take too long, and i parked on the track... but maybe signs wouldn't be a bad idea for next time.

The BMW track session was awesome, with Ken (Addison?) in his e92 showing the guys what a blistering lap time should sound, and LOOK like... with heavy sideways action through BOTH turn one and two... Too bad that all the spectators could see after turn one was Ken sliding into view, with plumes of smoke following him...

Ken was just incredible with one-handed drifting in the Drift/Donuts session, and getting awesome (smoky) results, even popping his Pilot Cups for our pleasure...

The 135i was entertaining, if a bit too aggressive into the corners... his drifting didn't seem to "flow" like Ken's, but i must comment the 325is Turbo on some nice smooth drifting, as well as the driver of the silver e39 M5.

I just got the feeling that the BMWFanatics day was too short, as soon as they announced our Clubday was over, most of, if not all, of the BMW drivers got into their cars and left... this was at 2pm, and I was one of them...

I'm sorry, but when they announced a Vtec, an ST and a Lumina were going to take the track, I just had to get out of there...

All-in-all, i enjoyed myself... I wish i had more time to explore the track though, even if it was in full, parade fashion... two laps just didn't feel like enough, and classing my e36 318i with 85Kw at the flywheel, with the 8 v8 monsters (2 e92 M3's, an e90 M3, 4M5's and a 540i-powered e30) that we had lapping the track, was never a good idea...

The extra "parade" laps would have extended our day nicely, and maybe we could integrate some 800m drag runs next time as well, maybe extending our day until the 6pm cutoff.

I didn't want to leave, but "VTec", and "ST" are things that make my skin crawl...

So let's start planning next year?

Oh and a thanks goes out to Faghrie, was hard to find the BMWFanatics guys in such a mixed crowd... maybe we could introduce a separate area for our cars, and maybe some special stand space, allowing us to get to know each other better.

I must say though, for something that was announced on the radio at such short notice (according to one of the BMW owners I spoke to), there was quite a large turnout... maybe next year we could hit the 300 BMW long parade mark?

Now i need to get hold of some club branding...

Sunday was a great day, except would have been nice::slap:
1. BMWFanatics.co.za stand - this would have served as a meet and greet, buy stickers, etc (Maybe incorporated with one of the clubs sponsors - as the sponsors also need to get mileage?)
2. No stand selling BMW branding - caps, shirts & underpants
3. In the new pits only saw 1 car with club branding - where was all the other quick guys

Besides the above, it was great to see the guys giving it their all on the track. I left feeling inspired and a couple of ideas!!

Then I got in my car - E39 540i - selected "sport" for the drive home.

One little selection and - You forget about the little irritations, you forget about the fuel consumption, you forget about how complicated life is. All you think about and hear is the roar of the V8 and the incredible
speed and road holding! Wow - its better than sex - well almost! I got home feeling forefilled. Well, now the penny has dropped!
