BMW F30 320i Performance

Hi Guys.

I recently purchased a BMW 320i 2014 model with the M-Sport 8 speed Gearbox.

A relative wanted to test it against his Toyota RXI for the fun of it.

Off the line and rolling start didnt stand a chance with the Toyota RXI and he pulled away and i was only able to reel him in around 200km which often never happened due to roads coming to its end.

I am surprised that a standard toyota RXI with only an exhaust system was able to perform such results against a 135kw BMW 320i on Sports Mode (Even Pedal shifting didn't help)

When running i was on sport+ but did not deactivate the DSC completely. No boggs felt but will i get increased and uninterrupted power by De-activating DSC completely when running.

Dignity required . Assistance required. I look forward to some feedback.

That is one healthy RXI.....Revving nicely to 9000rpm

They listed as factory spec 141kws

Must have been fun......

Rxi is not 141 kW, its 115kw. RunX RSI is 141kw.

Something doesn't add up.

LOL!!! :roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::biglol::biglol:

Dude, you got to check your car checked out, coast or altitude...in total stock form....i battered RXi's worse on brinjals!

your car should be giving out some hurt in a very decent form...unless that ones is running gas or turbo or something then they get sneaky and do some backflips.

Please check your car out, it sounds like something is causing it to with hold power...

RXi's are quick off the line that's about it, RSI runX's even quicker, but I doubt they would run an F30 in a hurry especially since it's NA.

Assuming this was at the coast, it is not unrealistic for the Rxi to chow the 320i from the line. But the 320i should have at least caught up and passed around 150/160 IMO.

If at altitude, then stop the clocks, something is wrong with the 320i.

Kerb weight of the RXI 1060kg (assuming its the corrolla)

Spec sheet

Kerb weight of the F30 320i 1505kg

Spec sheet

this is assuming your car doesnt have extras like electric seats, foldable tow hitch, sunroof etc etc... Not to mention if your car is running the 19s from factory, they contribute to dulling the acceleration. the reason why you start catching him at the top is because of superior aerodynamics...

simply put if you shed 400 odd kgs then your in front...

Lastly, a 20 valve rxi in healthy tune is not to be scoffed at... they nippy little buggers with that 6spd box...

Have to agree with Kish, having owned 2, 5 speed 20v's and 1, 6 speed 20v, i can certainly vouch for the their abilities.

That being said it is rare to find one in healthy nick, as they are 13 years old at best.

I owned a '92 spec twincam Corolla and a 180 RSi Conquest and those cars were quick. Whether or not that RXi is stock, you got served.

You have a 2014 model. Im quiet sure it has launch control. Use it. It helps on a 400m run.

Let the gearbox change on its own. You will not shift any faster.

20v will go from the line but you will reel and pass
