BMW F10 520D Review

Spent a busy yesterday and put in excess of 800 km on the car driving from pinelands to Worcester,Ceres, Tulbagh,Gouda ,Malmesbury and Vredenburg. So lots of B roads if you will and thought to give my impressions .

Performance

The engine is exceptionally willing and the low down torque is a joy making all but the most ambitious overtaking maneuvers an absolute breeze.
The engine is complemented by an exceptionally clever and intuitive gearbox there is none of that dreaded hesitation and hunting for the proper gear. In fact I will go as far as to speculate that when I think about a down gear the gearbox starts downgearing

My brother has an F10 535d. We were stopped at a robot and a lady in a 520d pulled up next to us. My brother gave it a half assed launch and then slacked off because we both had written the 520d off as an unworthy opponent.

Suddenly this bird plants it and starts pulling on us. By the time my boet saw her and put foot the 520d was at the back door and holding tight.

After 200km/h he decided to slack off and the 520d was still right on our ass.

We were both amazed at how well it fared. :thumbs:

Im actually surprised he hasnt been arrested yet driving that thing. Its like a rocket ship and you cannot feel what speed you are doing. Before you know it you are well over the limit.

Must say, I love this shape 5 series! Such an awesome car!

Congrats there man! actually considered this car when I was looking to buy, but I was going to look like I was driving my fathers car! :fencelook:

I love the F10 shape but I guess I under estimated the 520d's perfomance I thought the engine would be too small for the body,great car dude
