BMW E46 Warning light help please.

When I switch the ignition to ON before START the all lights go off except the EML light and the red battery and oil light. Everything goes off when I start the car but the car has lost power and randomly cut out. Please help.

Best bet is to get a diagnostic done, when my vvt motor packed up, the battery and oil light flashed occasionally and eml light stayed on. So vvt motor is a possibility.

when your engine is not running then these lights are supose to be on. Only diffirence is the EML light. on Manual cars the light will go on and then off when you turn on the ignition on Auto cars the EML will stay on untill the car is started and goes off after 3 seconds

I would stop driving the car and get diagnostics done ASAP. I wouldn't drive the car right now if I was you... you could have some serious problems if its cutting out and losing power...

The lights go out when I start the car. I drove her today and she operated normally without any faults so I dont know hey.

OH, ok, jis, I thought u meant it stays on ... thats ok.. but if the EML light ever comes on while u driving, rather pull over, cause the M54 motors have a tendency to either strip the oilpump shaft or the nut comes off... and thats an expensive exercise to fix... trust me ..

better to get it checked out anyways if its cutting out and such
