Good day fellow BMW lovers,
I have an e36 325i and noticed the car is beginning to smoke slightly.
Last year I replaced the valve stem seals so I guess the only reason could be it is the oil rings. The car has about 290k on the clock but she is still pretty healthy. I maintain her well, she is serviced regularly and OEM parts are used wherever possible, or the next best alternative.
I know the motor has seen a lot of km's so my question is, if I do the oil rings and bearings, are there any other things that I should look at to be replaced?
Also, the car has an oil leak which is not visible. I have had the undercarriage steam washed and still could not locate the leak. Instead there is oil deposits all over the sump guard and it seems to travel throughout the under of the car when I drive because the leaks show on the floor even under the gearbox (I have checked the gearbox and its fine. No leaks.) Anyone knows where else I could check?
Also, just curious about the 330i stroker conversion on the m50b25.. Aside from the crank and rods, can the original 325i pistons be used? and if I have to do the oil rings and bearings, would it be viable to do a stroker or just stick to the original bottom end? If anyone knows, could you approximate the cost of this as well as some insight?
My car is a daily, barely driven hard, but I like to have that power there when I want it. At the moment it has an M3 Exhaust and Branch, K&N Filter, and a chip.
