Hi Guys,
So I have recently started a new build project with my 1992 Bmw e30 320i and thought I'd share the progress thus far.
A little background on the car:
I have owned the car from 2010 and have enjoyed driving it first as a daily, then later as a weekend toy.
Car had performed well over the years and the only mods I did at first was TNT branches and dual 50mm freeflow exhaust system and a 17inch wheel upgrade besides the regular maintenance etc.
Unfortunately, towards the end of 2017 the cambelt snapped and damaged the valves, head, and pistons.
The car stood in my garage for over a year whilst I searched for someone I could trust to rebuild it for me. As luck would have it I found him on this forum and the build kicked off about a week ago.
New Build.
So I’ve decided to use Mike Mcloughlin of Mcloughlin Motorsports to carry out this build.
You can follow the build on Instagram for daily updates. Going to try document the entire build and upload here as well.
So I have always wanted a turbo e30 so that's the route we took.
The engine we will be using as a base is the M52b28 cast iron block motor.
The suspension will also be upgraded using m3 and z4 bits.
The build will be done in stages.
First the engine will be installed N/A with a minor refresh, gaskets waterpump etc.
The entire engine bay will be stripped and respray. Rusty battery tray will be replaced. New heat insulation from BMW will be installed. Subframe will be powder coated. Bonnet, side mirrors, wings will also be sprayed and bumpers colour coded.
Here is a small video clip of what has been done thus far. I must say, I am very impressed with the level of workmanship done thus far.
* mind the editing, put it together of the Instagram updates. Enjoy.
