BMW bonnet badge

Just bought one of these things at pure gold price from BMW, but what's interesting as well is the quality seems to have dropped....

1988 Badge made of thick metal, chromed both sides with thick clear over the logo.

1992 Badge made of thin metal chromed both sides with thin clear over the logo. Smooth finish

1995 Badge made of thick plastic chromed both sides with thin clear over the logo. Smooth finish

1997 Badge made of thin plastic chromed both sides with thin clear over the logo. Not so smooth finish, logo sticking out a bit.

Today Badge made of really thin black plastic no chrome at all with a thin stainless painted cap and zero clear coat, digits and logo stick out of the surface.

Went from really nice stuff to flimsy junk in 20 years....Thanks BMW now my new front and old rear badges clearly reflect your old and new quality... it looks damn stupid actually when you compare them.

i dont know are there any old badges left? they all seem to peel...
maybe the metal printed one will last... i have not looked at it closely so i cant comment on what it looks like....

I'll take pictures the boot badge is original and looks ten times the quality (At least in finish) than the new one.

how much do they go for? i was given an original boot badge for my e30 for christmas.i also thought its chinatown crap until i looked at the packaging and then he told me:rollsmile: but i totally agree, looks good from far but up close its cheap plastic that i will bet you will fade before june.

I feel so ripped off, badge from BMW with discount was R455
