Organises would like it if Vintage cars can be displayed for the old gents...please bring through your bmw 325is:biglol:

gladly..it will probably cause a stir when one of those old gents tell you about the time when he owned one.

i used to work for a BMW agent some years back and there used to be this old man, Oom Marius, that used to have his 327iS serviced there. I used to be the only one that could drive it and wash it. he always said that if anything happens to him, I could have the car. LOL.. this is what made his car unique, he had the front passenger seat signed by the late Toni Viana

Okay, original then...
BMW for BMW.

If a 23yr old BMW 325is costs 150k-200k
and the E46 M3 with probably half of that mileage and only 9 years old is costing 160k-220k
Which one you gonna buy?

a pristine looking one and I had the money to waste. I would take the iS. that's the thing about being an enthusiast. its something to scratch off from your bucket list. I would buy one just to say that I owned one. whether it was for a week or 2 or even a month. I had one.

e46 M3s are a dime a dozen and if you kick over a rock, you will find one. it would probably be abused too or wrapped in some shitty vynil or something to make it look "one of a kind" but it still wouldn't be an iS.

#just saying

Completely agree, I feel the same!
IF I had the money to waste...
but a sensible buy, would be e46 M3

LOL.. sensible would be to buy the e46 M3.. but we aren't sensible are we.. LOL.. ask my vrou, she will tell you. i chose to buy an E36 M3 over a newer car. She always says, she will not get it but as long as i am happy, she is cool.. the problem is now i have to buy her a NEWER car :thumbdo:

Yes, the E36 M3 is a well built car, much cheaper than the e46 M3, even cheaper than a valued 325is

The stuff dreams are made of...

Don't remember where I heard this: "One day is one day." And indeed, I shall have my dance with the BMW 325iS... one day is definitely one day.

the problem that I have with the is is that, I am so obsessed with it that I wanna drive it everyday and truth be told, it definitely does suffer to keep up with modern day traffic (unless if you constantly hammer it through the hi revs) and im not talking about racing the car.
so a typical owner of the car (enthusiast or not) would find himself in a dilemma of wanting to use this special car daily but dreads the "never ending turbo lag" (as someone put it lol). unless if you can resist the edge and ONLY use the car for breakfast runs.... which I cannot, I confess.

would I pay 150K for a second one? in a heartbeat. but the temptation for the need to boost it up will forever suffice. yes I know purists will crucify me for mentioning the word boost but it is a temptation that always creeps up nevertheless.

im sorry, im not the kind of guy who condones "garage queen" practices on special cars. I like to have my cake and eat it. hence I see no problem in using such a sort out car as a daily runner and maintain it accordingly ofcourse.
at times I was even tempted to leave the is bone stock and buy a ordinary 325i to boost and butcher as a daily runner but you see the problem is, a 325i is NOT a 325is and I want to drive a is! what to do, what to do... sigh..

does it battle with modern day traffic... yes
should you have a bit of both worlds and boost it... no
should you have a bit of both worlds and boost it... yes
should you have a bit of both worlds and boost it... I don't know
but either way, u screwed

Agree with most of what you said (except the turbo the car part)!

Now my car is a garage queen as I'm in JHB and the car is safely tucked away in Durban. But when I lived in Durban, I found every excuse to use it.
The perfect situation for me was as a Sunday drive. Start it up, take a slow cruise to allow it to warm up, then blast the hell outta it!!! :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

Bottom line here guys

If you want to find out if somebody is a TRUE BMW fan, ask them if they think R100k+ for an iS is ridiculous or not, that will sort the Men from the boys.

There is no other car that you can own where:
1) You walk to the garage to stare at it & it puts a smile on your face
2) You stop at the robots, roll down the window to hear the burble of the zorst & it put a:rollsmile:
3) You throw in petrol & the attendant rushes over to help you & it:rollsmile:
4) Guys in E46/E92 M3's on their Sunday drive snap their necks to check your cabbie & it makes you:rollsmile:
5) Young kids ask you "uncle give a rev" & it:rollsmile: coz you know you just made another convert

True story 1-5.....just saying

It's not ridiculous but I remember when you could pick one up for R40k and that wasn't too long ago. It's appreciated over 300% in a few years. I can't wrap my head around it so even if I had the money, I'd feel like I missed an opportunity and overspent.

I would sooner consider other BMWs before they go the same way as the IS BUT my heart still aches for one.
