What about using pool acid and spray it on so that it eats the dirt off
or using my drill wire brush :dunno:
or maybe my mother in law can just lick the dirt off with her devil tongue :mmm:

Thats what the car washes use, diluted pool acid.
I once saw an incident was an F430 + carbon brakes and pool acid. It didnt turn out well.

Lol! the price tag on one of those discs alone is R51379.78! That is for one front disc!

So basically you are saying that I should avoid car washes from now on ? :bawling: I'm a lazy guy, I usually don't like cleaning my car unless it's a life or death situation. :) I know, it's bad.

Well then you deserve the kak results you get.

Guys, i can attest that the Sonax stuff really works!!!
I drive a VW amarok and have been struggeling to get rid of the brakedust/tar gunk from my mags. i have tried everything! nothing worked! the Sonax Wheel cleander stripped off all that stuff in 5 min flat! i just used a soft brush to work it in and voila! my wheels look brand NEW

Thanks for the brilliant advice!!!!!!

Thanks guys for your advice. Is the Meaguiars stuff at Builders Warehouse too ? Is it very expensive ? I've just been told by some people not to use stuff that eats into the dirt too much otherwise you can leave the mag wheels looking very dull. I don't know if there is any truth to that but then I have no clue hence the questions.

So you guys recommend either the Meaguiars all wheel hot rims with a wax or the Sonex stuff. Thanks guys.

I have been using Meguairs for a while, follow the directions and you should be fine, This is based on my experiences, I have not had any issues.

I've just used Turtle Waxes new product.
Although a Meguiars fan the new Turtle Wax Rim Cleaner worked like a bomb.
Only takes a minute to start working.

It was absolutely brilliant.
One of my shocks were leaking oil. TW cleaned it in a minute with absolute ease.
Literally a light brush then hosed the oil away.

Really good stuff.

I wash my car weekly, myself, as I take pride in my car. so wheels don't need a special cleaner, the meguiers car shampoo and sponge works great in cleaning the wheels.

Its more keeping them clean that is an irritation, after two days driving the wheels are dirty. Keen to try that brake dust repellant.

Anyone used it yet?

I've heard waxing the wheels helps.
Tried last weekend still testing the results.

I will give this repellent a try this weekend. Dirty wheels make a clean car look dirty.

I agree. Nothing more frustrating.

Couldn't agree more about the dirty wheels comment.

I use Smartwax - Rimwax and it does help.
I also wash my car once a week but by then my rims are quite dirty.
Since I've been using Smartwax it's not that bad and easier to get off.

thread revival...Diamond Cut wheels?

A decent pH neutral wheel cleaner will do the job. Try and avoid cleaning with acid or alkaline based wheel cleaners. They're known for discolour/corrosion over time if you use it often.
