All the fuel in SA comes from National Refineries (NATREF) and then each brand just adds their additives. Except for Sasol of course... I think.
Actually, most of the Oil Companies have a refining presence in SA. BP and Shell at Sapref, Engen at Enref, Chevron (Caltex) at Chevref, Sasol at Secunda and Sasol and Total JV at Natref.
They all enter into supply agreements with one another at coastal or inland regions based on their refining position. So it is possible that a large part of fuel product available in Gauteng may have come from Secunda or Natref... But some of it does come from the coastal refineries as well.
And you're right about the additives, all base product is the same and additives are added at each company's depot. Well informed!:thumbs:
