That "bad list" is such a LOL because you've described it so well and I can relate :roflol:

Have to agree with the sound system - it is really good and the sound dampening is awesome.

I think if you disable auto stop/start and open the door then it won't turn the car off. Not 100% sure though...

wrt the gearbox, you cannot floor it off the line, it will spin. You gotta let it roll a bit and then go. If you nudging in traffic, be careful not to give it (substantial) gas, let go, and gas again. It will take off like a mofo for no reason whatsoever.

Your steering isn't hardening when you take off hard. I think its torque steer because I've had to correct it a couple times. Not like that's a bad thing...

However once you get used to driving it, it is really a nice, easy to live with, and smooth daily to be in.

PS stop carrying 2 adult males in your boot. That's quite gay :tease:

Lol seems AUDI has to learn a few things then.

My Stop/Start is always off and still if you open the door the car switches off, I can't understand the logic behind this If I am honest.

I almost had an accident in the traffic with that gas, then let go and then gas again and it shoots off unexpected and you have to jump on the brakes hard then it think you have stopped and Stop Start switches off the engine :biglol::biglol:

Please tell me more about correcting the torque steer...

I don't always carry two adults in the boot but when I do, its because they owe me money :cartel:

Most of the issues were resolved in the B9. Gearbox being the major difference in the drive. Have both cars at home but for some reason I prefer the B8 even with it's flaws.

Steering is decent as well but only if you want a nice and easy drive. Still no feedback and very disconnected. I've lost the wheels many times and had no clue where they were. But then again, these cars can go up to 'high speeds' but you can't abuse them as much as you would abuse a BMW. Chances are you will end up in the bush...

You're going to have to just get used to the torque steer. Perhaps check the tyres if it is as bad as you say? Personally, I quite like it.

I agree with you, when I test drove them, I opted for the manual gearbox cos l could not live with that auto box and the way the car drove. I can’t imagine how bad the 88kw version must be.

The downside of the manual box is it doesn’t take well to launching the car. If you do launch the car hard, it becomes a different car, it seems to tighten up and keep the boost coming in harder. As if the car knows you ready for a spirited drive.

Over all very very solid car and after 4 years of owning it, no rattles or wear and tear on any interior or exterior trim. Comfortable car and extremely solid. It was good on long trips and fuel economy was very good on long trips.

My first long distance journey with the car,

Went to Bushbuckridge a trip of about 450km from my place. Had four adults in the car and we were a bit late so I had to break out the heavy foot. Driving as usually was amazing, this a long distance cruiser and it did just that. Comfortable and relaxing drive.

Put in R600 fuel and that was enough for the trip there and the driving around in the area. Put another R600 on my way back and still had petrol to use when I got home.

Avarage fuel consumption was 8.7l/100km with most spats of heavy foot. :=):

That Schoemanskloof road remains one of my favorite roads in the whole country, mixture of beautiful scenery and curvey roads... :praise:

Then while I was trying to access the trip computer number 2 I did something and now I only have access to one trip computer and there is a red line across it. The entire display has also changed on the dashboard console. Need to google how to get it back to normal.

The trip computer is equipped with two fully automatic memories. Trip 1 (single-trip memory) stores the information from the time the ignition is turned on until it is turned off.

If the trip is continued, within 2 hours from the time the ignition was turned off, the new information will be included until the trip is interrupted for more than 2 hours.

The total-trip memory, Trip 2, is not reset automatically, and it allows the driver to evaluate the driving data for the entire period between manual resets.

After many many hours of googling I have found it, If you press the reset button and one of the click buttons on the end of the stalk it changes through modes. One has a red line other has a green line and then there is the 'normal' mode which I call normal because that was on since I got the car.

Looks like so..

Still need to find out if they change anything or driving mods or what.

The Audi has decided to eat its own coolant pipe. Apparently with the heating and cooling that happens in the bonnet it was bound to happen overtime. So to make sure it never happens again I am going to have the plastic tube replaced with a metal one. Same diameter and shape just metal and not plastic.

This is the problem

Then this is the resulting mess it caused. There was a puddle of coolant on one of the coil pack, not sure if it has caused any damage to anything but fingers crossed nothing happend

Replacing the plastic pipe with a metal one was dismissed quickly by my car consultant who said when these cars are designed some pipes are metal and others are plastic to give them points on failure should something go wrong.

Now If I had put in a metal pipe then I would be compromising the wants and wishes of the engineers in Ingolstadt.

Long story short, spares shops do not keep these and Audi took a chunk out of my pocket for the part. The car is mended now and ready to mingle.

Had a coolant leak which I resolved over the weekend. Plastic/Rubber bits gave in. VAG knobuhle's decided to use two different size pipes on what is essentially one pipe.

Coolant was seeping onto the plugs/coils causing a slight stutter on take off which has now been resolved.

If you experience this - don't get the replacement from Audi/VW (I believe you can only get it from them).

I got a replacement pipe and clamps from Midas. Problem solved for about R50 :eek:mgwaiting:

If only I had known, I looked at Midas and Goldwagen and other smaller shops and they all told me to go to AUDI.

Mech was at Midas with me. It was his call and he said that he's done quite a few without any come backs :hammerhead:

Minor update.

Car went in for service and all of a sudden the oil level thingy (which I think is a gimmick) is giving of random levels. Yesterday it said there was no oil at all in the car and yet I didn't get any warning lights or anything.

Since I am preparing to go to Durban to give a hiding to a man in a Beemer over the Easter holidays. I ordered a dipstick from AUDI.

Part number 06J 115 611L @R420
Will work for AUDI A4 B8 and B8.5, VW Scirroco, Audi A3 2.0T, 8P S3 and Golf MKVI

This is for the 2.0T but according to a few forums I have researched it should on the 1.8T as well.

Lets see how it goes.

Also does anybody have Vag Com VCDS in the Wesrand Roodeport area?

I am willing to pay up to R0.35 to get some customization done

Happens on mine as well. That oil level depiction is retarded. If the car tells you to add oil (on the dash) then add oil...

@Riaad are you still going to record this for us?
