Airbag light

Ok so this is one of many threads where i will probably need advice.

On my dashboard computer (Clocks) the Airbag light is contantly on. In my previous car there was always a setting on the side of the dashboard to put the passanger airbag on or off. I dont see one on the BMW.

Any advice on how to sort this out?

What car?

Airbag light on = fault in airbag system. Depending on fault, this might disable the entire system. Only way to know for sure exactly what is wrong is to get a diagnostic. Only way to reset is via the diagnostic SW.

I see you are from boksburg. Go see zaleonardz at Dent Doctor Boksburg (PM him first), he should be able sort it out for you for way less money than the stealers will take you for.

from my experience...E39 530d

I have had the light come on "steady" numerous times in the last couple of years, hook up to diagnostics...no fault present...reset...good for another couple of months.

the problem....under the drivers seat is a large electrical connector, which is extremely sensitive to movement, I.E. moving seat forwards/backwards, bumping the connector with vacumm cleaner, and according to BMW Isando the computor allows approx 9 disruptions in power by jolting of the connector, by the 10th time the airbag light comes on permanently.

simple solution...reset the airbag light via the diagnostics tool..
beter long lasting solution, remove the connector completely and solder the wires "like-to-like"...no more issues with bumping/jolting of the connector.

yep, seen that problem on a lot of cars, even the early mini's..

+1 on having leonard sort it for you..
