Hi guys,

Anyone has experience with the above mentioned warranties, my brother's 135i motorplan is expiring soon & he is looking for an aftermarket warranty.

Motormend is a once off cost of approximately R7000 & SMG is monthly @ R200/pm which is extremely affordable. Both have the same cover in value per component & duration 2years/250k km.

What ever he takes, tell him to take gap cover as well, its not much and will cover the balance because repairs aren't cheap when it occurs

I didn’t realize you get a gap cover for the warranties as well.

Same dilemma here with m/plan expiring as well.
Just a heads up and something Im experiencing, I didn't realise the 3 waiting period for a claim a few of them are mentioning, so don't leave it for too late.

I have a MotorMend policy. Only used it once so far and didn’t have much issue. They asked me if I authorize the policy claim, which the workshop applied for authorisation, I verbally acknowledged and that was it. No fuss really.

They did however first want to only authorize a lower value for the repairs. The workshop queues this and got a higher value. I think it depends who is on the other side and that they process it correctly.

Any more information on the Gap cover?

To the OP, heard good things about Innovation Group warranties (SMG) and SAWarranties as well.

Just to add, MotorMend is an Innovation Group product.

As long as your car is still under plan get a normal dial direct underwritten extended warranty policy. It's administered by Innovation, and has unlimited cover for most of the main components. Premium is based on the size of engine so for a 320d/I its around R150 pm. Covers 2yr/250k km. I just called dial direct and did it over the phone.

I got approached by my finance provider and they offered it to me, I too never knew about it until then. I'm not sure of who all offers it, but just ask. I got two options, lower option covers up to 7.5k on top of the extended warranty and the higher option covers up to 11k more. And paying like under R120 (cant remember the exact amount now) for 11k extra if there are claims was worth it. And for me, I took the top up because I would rather be safe as I have a N54. I also had a repair on the car lately and the gap cover worked out nicely.
