Clean the MAF sensor. Problem solved.

Previous e90 320d had a k&n on for 60k odd kms no problems. Current e90 40k kms no problems.

If you dont want to stick with OEM, do K&N...simple! End of the day, you dont want to gag on a price tag now and regret it later should something happen.

My car has OEM, has has software on and it pushed out a kak load of power compared to other 320ds with an OEM un-changed since 07/2013 air-filter.

My other BMW had OEM also and felt the best with it. Audi's & Golfs all had K&N and no issues whatsoever.

So there's no way I can get sound out of this motor  apart from forking out a hefty amount for a complete new air box setup like an Afe intake or the like? Will be doing an exhaust also but for now looking for the motor sound to open up, my bro has an e39 528i, when he had his cai it sounded insane! :praise: we ran a pipe right down so the cone filter used to sit behind the fog light, but because they stole that fog light so it was open so it was a direct cold air feed and it was loud but sounded damn good. That's ideally what I'm looking for, that filter/motor scream :skit:

Always found oem air filters best balance.
Even stuff like fram and gue seems to affect mileage and I don't understand why

My take on it is that an aftermarket filter (talking aFe induction kit here actually) could have gains of maybe up to 8hp.. But any others I doubt would be adding much, I would not risk a small hp gain/a bit of induction noise on an aftermarket filter.. My 2c as always.. Buy an OEM

But that's actually what I'm looking for buddy, I'm looking for the sound, even if it doesn't give much gains or any gains at all as long as I don't lose any power, the least gain I'm looking for is the sound but if I gain in power also that's a bonus, get what I'm saying? Everyone might not feel the same but each to his own hey

Thing is....

You've already made up your mind. Seems like you're looking for confirmation almost. Nothing g wrong with that....

I made up my own CAI for my e36 and she sounds insane.

The only way you'll know for sure if it's what you want is to buy it...fit it....and make your deductions from there.

My 2c....rather spend the money on something decent first time around....reason being you'll most likely forget to *"replace the cheapie with a better brand if it's really what I want"*...

I understand all the talk about OEM filters but I still envy all the people not inside my car who get to hear me coming lol

Lol now that's exactly what I want buddy, I aso understand all the om talk and I agree but it's not what I'm looking for, I would also like to run a pipe going download to the grill, like a direct cold air feed, but will need to get a new air flow meter then because the current airflow meter sits on the box :smashScreen:

If you want sound just do the exhaust. The 330i with custom exhaust does sound amazing. The filter won't add much induction sound. And from test on this very forum they actually do lose power due to heat soak. Unless you just seop it for a k&n flat filter which also wouldn't improve sound.

If you don't want to do full exhaust. Just chnage back boxes and remove the cats

Plus I will be doing software soon so I think maybe a CAI setup would work well with the software

A CAI system is not worth the money. If you onky want sound then do zaust, will probably cost tou the same. And you will have great gains especially with software
