You may have your heart set on a BMW. Nothing wrong with that.
But you going to have to go the Star Trek route and be like Spock.....Think Logical...Lol
The car is 9 years old with over 250k kms. Components are going the break due to age and wear alot frequently at this age and mileage . Its the same for all cars this old.
Look at alternatives. Yes you do get alot of car out of a 320D, but i sense its going to come at a price, well beyond the purchase price.
Thanks very much for the wise words? Will definitely take it into consideration and try my best to think logically ?

Hi All. I’m thinking of buying my first car. I have found a bmw 320d 2011 with 250000 km and full service history by agents. Seems to be well loved. No work has been done on the engine yet so I’m wondering what parts I will or may have to replace quite soon ? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Caden 18.
Hi bud,
Have to agree with the majority on this one and say do not buy this car.
If it must be a BMW, then do not rush and wait until a lower mileage model comes along.
If not BMW, what are your requirements? Power / economy / reliability etc? Then search within your budget.
Good luck!
Hi there, thanks very much for the advice! I have decided that this was in fact not a great car to buy at the mileage and age. I am actually looking into some bmw z4s that have a much better mileage. Do you have any advice on that by any chance?

One again, hello everyone! Thanks so much for the overwhelming response to my above initial message. It was amazing to get such a helpful response. Upon looking at the general advice, I have decided that this car is definitely not the right car for me at this stage, and although I will keep an eye out for future deals with the 320d that have a much better mileage and service history, there are not many out there in my limited budget.
So I have been researching and researching what car would best meet my daily requirements, which would be a daily commute of about an hour to work and an hour back, as well as the normal everyday routines such as shopping etc. My budget is around R120000.
I have taken an extreme interest in the BMW Z4 models, particularly the 2004-2007 range. I completely understand that with a car as old as these models, I would need to find one that has really been looked after and has had a caring owner. I know it may be a bit fancy as my first car, but after chatting to my dad about it we decided that a car like that, with it’s impractical nature, can normally only be an option when you are young, and have very little responsibility, or when you are a little older. I say this as when one starts a family, this car is evidently impractical as an everyday use car with its limited capacity. Therefore I feel like a little sports car like this would be a really enjoyable option for my current age.
Anyway, it is not a final option but an option nonetheless, so I would really appreciate any advice on whether this car is a viable option for someone who is in my position or if it is a complete and utter waste of time. I do not need a perfect ride, but I definitely need a car that will get me from A to B without too many issues.
I have also seen there are 3 different transmissions available, Manual, Auto and SMG. I think an Auto would be best as with a manual, daily driving me get a bit tiring, but i am not sure about the SMG. I have heard a few people saying that one must stay away from SMGs as they are prone to failure, can anyone confirm if this is the case?
If you have made it this far thanks so much and I really look forward to your response!!!
