Advice on what car next ?

Getting a 330i E90 just doesn't make sense if you already have an E46. It may be stronger and have better creature comforts, but the power delivery and overall feel of the motor is very similar, so I don't feel like it's much of an upgrade.

If revving to 7000rpm is what gets you going you might as well go test the 328i F30. The 328i will give the E90 330i a decent hiding and you at least have some form of fuel economy in urban driving situations.

IMO the 328i is very underrated, but I'd still stick with the 330d.

Wow the responses and advice are most appreciated. The 330i has the
appeal of the NA engine that I know and enjoy so much.

Turbo ownership scares the crap out of me as I am clueless - be it petrol or diesel.

@ Kev - guess the 335i should also be added to the list, as it the natural successor. N54 ownership is not for the faint hearted from what I seen here
over the years.

The white MS 330i does look nice too.

Evening all

I was looking for some advice / opinions on what car I should purchase next, I currently have a 2003 330i - 180 000kms that is awesome and will never be sold.

I am looking to get into something newer at no more than R250k, and these are my options;

LCI 330i E90 - manual +/- R180k - pretty scarce but will be closest to what I have.

LCI 330d E90 - auto +/- R230k - a few more about.

2012 / 2013 - F30 320d - R230k > R250k - lots about,

2012 / 2013 - F30 328i - R230k > R250k - a few around, but not sure about these motors - nice / similar figures to the 330i's > but turbo etc etc ?

Not sure if I should be looking at anything else and would appreciate your ideas, input and suggestions.

I do about 20 000kms a year, must be a 4 door, not adverse to the 1 Series - but I haven't really looked them - mainly the 3 Series - prefer manuals, do all my own servicing.

Let me know.....
