glad it all worked out, add the difference in cash, and save the claim

Exactly what I was thinking. But I'm still waiting for a formal quote. C'mon Cape Town, pull your finger out.

Glad it was all sorted as smoothly as it was. Thumbs to the guy for admitting finally, and going along with the process so easily.

glad you sorted :)

I really hope this guy learns to take a cab when he drinks... 2.5k would buy quite a few cab rides home...

Chef, I think the guy was so easy with the process as a form of punishment to himself. He said he can't believe he rode drunk again. I do believe he has a problem but that's not my place to educate him. Still, some respect is due to him for taking it like a guilty man. Hahaha!

Cheers bru! Turned out quite well in the end, though you should probably pass on the drink, I'm sure you'd hate the douch-ness to rub off on you :)

Roughly

LF Fender 900 to 1100
New panel painting R1,600+150
Strip and assemble 450

3300 excl vat, round about give or take :)

Hey bud, I wish it was that cheap. Total is R1.20 shy of R8k!!!

Pls see the attached quote below and tell me if it's fishy as it will push my premium up next year.

Also, another member said that if I claim now my 2014 premium will take the hit, but if I claim in Jan 2014 then my 2015 premium will suffer. I think I should wait and claim in early Jan.

What do you guys think about that?

He did not want to see the video again as he saw it during the day. To be fair, the guy admitted and hung his head in shame. He did offer me a drink (dafuq - where it all started!) and I took it.

:biglol::biglol::biglol::biglol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:

i find this scenario exceptionally hilarious,
one dewd who on one very drunken night screws someones car, the owner of the said
car ends up having a drink with said drunk dewd over how to sort the damages out...lol

did you tell the panelbeater the quote is for your insurance? if you did ask them for a cash quote from my experience insurance quotes are considerably higher than cash quotes, i knew my panelbeater really well sad he passed away, he used to help me out. worth a try before claiming or maybe a quote from another panelbeater aswell

Yes, I did say the quote is for insurance. I haven't shopped around yet as I've got no time. Will get other quotes before the week is over.

Another point to keep in mind is that most of the insurance companies increase their premiums come January. The premium increase percentage hugely depends on the claims that you made. I drive with a chipped windscreen which I will only claim in January. this is to avoid the extra R102.75 that will be added to my premium should I claim this year.

I don't Know about your insurance but this is Olmutual/Mutual and Fed/Iwyze's way.

This is pure Highway robbery as my vehicles' values deteriorate yearly but the Insurance company wants to charge me more. I believe that they should charge me less. if i don't claim it remains the same but should I claim then I will have to pay R102.75*12 months=R1130.25 exta on my premiums next year. if you add the R500 excess then it comes to R1630.25. Maybe I should go and see how much they cost at the scrap yard for an OEM windscreen ... or just chill until next year as the chips are not deterring driving.

Sa-auto glass will charge you around R2500 to replace the windscreen tops, and that price is if you have auto wipers and auto headlights. Give them a call and ask to speak to ruchelle. Say Shaun referred you, she should give you a great price. They also come to you and replace.

Glad you got the situation sorted out. You should tell the guy that he needs to pay your adjusted insurance premium for the 12 months. so if it was 1000 and it's now going to be 1100 let him pay the additional 100*12 as well?
