Why didn't they just get you two new ones from hella. Wasn't it a third party claim?

Xenons can be done yourself for far cheaper and arguably far better.

By the way. Depo sells lenses for the e39. Maybe something to look at.

Because then I would only have gotten one in any case. They don't repair what's not broken and they need to provide all invoices to my insurers. Third party claim, yes. There was an assessor.

Buying a lense won't help. Like I've said before, the production date of my headlights is post July 2002 meaning BMW used an epoxy that won't soften with heat. I can't remove the lense.

you can definitely sort that lense out, sand with 800.. work up to 2000...
then polish... its a finicky job and best left to someone thats done it before, i did my previous e39. but, its a good idea to also polish and wax your headlight like you do the car, also i believe their is a clear uv protection film you can get aswell.. something as far as im concerned should be standard on all plastic lenses.

So for the first time since I've had this 5er (two years now) I can actually see at night because of just the one new headlight. When I foxed the adjuster on both the old headlights it raised the level of where the light shines but it was still never bright enough, even after trying so many different bulbs and brands and what not.

What a pleasure to drive at night again. IT was obviously the faded projectors that were my problem the entire time (in conjunction with the adjusters). The new headlight's light output is just amazing compared to before and so I will be replacing the left side headlight instead of refurbing it.

It's actually just a dirty film that builds up on the projector glass, simple to clean on a e46 but not so easy for e39 owners as the lights are bonded together.

Yup. If my car was just 3 months older it would have had the lights that can be taken apart.

Why BMW decides, right before the model is discontinued from production, to switch the glue to something that can hold a Boeing together at top speed, I do not know...
