Epic work as always. 7l/100???? Amazeballs. That's better than my Corsa ute 1.4i.

I must say that the consumption that Gordon is achieving from that car is somewhat astounding.

However one needs to meet Gordon to understand OCD (in a good way).
He is a most sympathetic driver and meticulous owner. One needs to hear how sweet and quiet that engine is to understand that oil changes are frequent and I suspect the oil has not exceeded 7000Km in the engine.
Equally using the same brand constantly adds to a clean engine with no sludge.

He also covers a lot of open road driving so the consumption can be maximised.

I agree

Gordon took me a drive the other night, and that car is amazingly smooth and quiet for its age and mileage. You cannot hear or feel the car idling.

It accelerates like a jet through the air. Again you don't feel anything, and you just hear the sweet rumble of the engine as if it were brand new.

A prime example of what a car can do for you if you look after it properly.

So it appears that we were not entirely successful in resetting the throttle as the car went into limp mode 3 times today.

Gordon will be taking it to the agents for them to reset and we will be picking up the tab.

The old story of you break it you buy it holds very true.

We have also ordered the hard pipes that run along the cylinder head and once the agents have them the car is coming back for them to be fitted.

Anyone want to guess what will be the first thing disconnected when it gets here?

So I think it's time for an update

I've covered almost 20k since Peter had done the Vanos , gaskets, breather pipes and basically rebuilt the whole cooling system.

Boy O boy have I been enjoying this car!

Fuel consumption has been blowing my mind.

Town driving I get about 650km on a tank!

I did an open road test not too long ago.

I did 319.8km and she used 25.1 L of fuel ( I use Shell 95) :dropjaw:

I've just been enjoying the smoothness of the engine now as well as the newly found lowdown torque

She is really strong now for such a heavy car! But she still dishes out hidings as well :biglol:

Peter,Alex and Axis, I am still as happy with the car as the day I got her back. She is running as smooth as glass :joy:

Thanks again for reviving the 5'er! You guys are legends :praise::bravo:
