Absolutely stunning! Wish mine was a s54 version, wonder how much work to do the motor swap(i already have motor/lockset), s54 with csl intake would be epic in that chassis:inlove:

:praise:This car must be epic! Is it a Uk import by any chance? I see a secondary air pump in the engine for emissions?

All of the s54s here have that?

btw. Peter, whats it in for ? i assume the normal vanos rattle kit and seals?

Also with that low kays I would assume the Vanos not working as intended as a result of standing for long periods??

The s54 motor was fitted with the secondary air pump.

The car is in for a major (all filters brake fluid change and bleed wipers handbrake shoes adjust a modification to the seats to stop them from rattling) as well as the customary vanos /rattle/drill oil pump

Low Kms have no influence on the seals.
The seals deteriorate as soon as they are fitted and do a few warm up and cooling cycles.

Here is what the seals look like which reinforces the fact that if you drive a vanos car get the seals done

Oh btw these are the best condition seals we have seen in a long time.
The last time we saw seals in such good condition is when we did Fordkoppie's CSL and that had roughly 10000km since the vanos unit change by BMW and had developed a rattle.

Pistons with new seals fitted

Oil pump disc

Torque checked on cap screws

Inlet gearbox

Exhaust gearbox

Tomorrow the spline shafts will be done and the unit set in place after the timming chain cover has been loved.

So now ultimately, this car is better than brand new thanks to the better Vanos seals and the extremely low mileage!! :inlove:

Rear brakes were done and the handbrake was adjusted

New brake caliper bolts as the old ones should not be re used.

A thin coat of copper ease was applied to the disc

Undertray with some road debris damage.
Looks like something flew up and smashed into it.

This is how the decorative cover had been placed on the car by the dealer.

This is how it should be located

The oil filter cap before

...and after

Engine work completed.

Another pic just for amazement purposes...

I think some dealers should have their franchise taken away by BMW when they produce work of this caliber.

This is for the owner lest he think that I forgot to clean the dirty timing cover.

No one will see it but at least you and I will know that it is clean :)

Yes, it's still here too. Peter has 2 other interesting BMW's to work on in the near future. But I'm a tease and will let him reveal in due course.

What a beauty and what attention to detail! :praise:

Not wanting to hijack, but this thread has got me thinking about tying up some loose ends on my car.
Any idea what the part number is for the undertray?
Also, what is supposed to hold the connection for the brake and wheel speed sensors in the front wheel arch - I think mine is missing (they are just hanging there next to a threaded spike).
