A peach of a car Z3 M-s54

The Z3 has a rocking action on the seats which is caused by worn bushes.

Stripped the passenger side and this is what the "bush" looks like after 3 000Kms.

It will be replaced with a neoprene bush which will need to be sanded to size but that is for another day.

Seats are done and my observation is as follows.....after I have done the seats on "Lysis's" car it will be the last that I shall do.

There is not enough money on this earth to get me to do another set.

The seats are too heavy
The space is restricted
You need to protect the working area better than you would suit up to enter Chernobyl.
Last but not least grinding the spacers to size is guaranteed to damage your fingers.

I think the car is finished now but for one thing that still needs to be resolved but that is for another month.......

In closing having spent a considerable amount of time with it and the one fault (which is in the process of being attended to) aside, this is a flawless example with a most caring and particular owner.

Aah the new control arms. Were the old ones steal and the replacements aluminium?

Yes although the old ones are still in good condition (they will be kept in a box to have an original car) the new control arms are an acceptable upgrade although eye watering expensive.

I am told by the owner that the steering feel is improved and the "nose heavy feel" has disappeared.

So all in all the suspension improvements (stabiliser links,Powerflex lower control arm bushes and control arms)have yielded a more responsive and neutral feel.

The Aluminium LCA made a nice difference on my shark, much lighter steering feel. Although 9j wide at the front doesn't help.

:roflol:

I had just finished doing this a few years ago on the drivers side when my wife mentioned that her seat was rocking slightly... she stopped complaining about a year ago.

It has to be one of BMW's biggest down falls, these control are just crazy price wise. I have ZHP control arms on my car, came from BMW with them, but they can't supply me replacements.

I have only seen them in the US, 550 USD, plus shipping and import duties.

After many hours of swearing, I managed to finish the ACS treatment on the car. Thank you for the telephonic support Peter!
