If fuel consumption is a real issue, then you should be looking at the 320d, probably one of the best engines in the range, next to the N54/5.

i think your figures are a bit optimistic. 135i i get between 380 and 400km to a full tank at first click on the pump. if i drive it hard i get around 320 - 350km to a full tank. a 330d i have no idea on but i assume more than 700km to the tank. (3 series tank may be a bit bigger) but the whatever the 330d is a lot more economical. not only R100-R200 extra per month. I would fill up my tank approx twice to every once in the 330d

RenVilo said:I worked out that on normal driving I should get about 550/600km on a tank else around 450/500km if I push it

Yep, 3 series is 61l, the 1 series is 53l. If you compare the overall consumption figures for both cars, using those quoted by BMW, the difference is just short of 3l/100km. Yes, my estimate for cost is off because it depends on how much driving you do in a month.
I can't see that either of the above will be worse than the modded ST.

Never use the figures quoted by BMW, they are almost never even close to actual real life figures.
