Hi all

I am new here , I was hoping the fanatics would be able to assist me with my decision , I am looking for a roadster for day to day travel to and from work but I dont want to spend too much money on it (R100 000 Max) I found a Z3 on autotrader for R84 000 which does not look too bad : its a 98 2.8 model with 170 000 on the clock. Could you maybe tell me about things to look out for like maintenance costs , pitfalls , issues with that model ect. Any inputs would really be appreciated thanks.

Hey Raymond, welcome !,
The retractable roof meganism can be something to think about, in term of fancy stuff that can be troublesome. Motors are rock solid and they love to be driven hard.
Its too easy to keep the rear wheels perfectly round

Happy hunting

As above .
The 2.8 motor is good if looked after , oils and coolant important .
Check suspension , bushes etc .

Z3 2.8L is good, but the 3.0L Facelift looks better and performs better, maybe add another 10k and get that one? See Link below, that one looks Goooood! :=):

Road & Track

I was told check for roof leaks, roof mechanisms, bushes, tear / cracks in rear end floor underneath carpet and check fuel tank for damage from bottoming out . . .

Karthik's bro was selling his Z3 3.0L, maybe contact him? >>>>>

The 3.0L Facelift, in the best colour scheme and Spec, has the e46 S/Wheel and ZHP Gear Knob + Its a Manual! :)

 Love this one! :)

The seller should at least sell a RayBan with the car. It looks really cool with the roof down.
What is the availability of parts like on these roadsters?

Get it !

Having loads of fun with mine.

Watch for the roof leaks, evidence can be seen on the door pads especially on the speaker covers.

Suspensions bushes are also something to look out for.
