1997 Z3 2.8 manual

So without the need for another car this one came up for sale by an elderly gentleman using it as his weekend golf course commute. Not the kind of sale you let pass by.

So its a 1997 2.8 Z3 manual convertible in absolute immaculate original condition and only 123000km on the clock. Car idles softer than a whispers but the 2.8 6 pot grunt is still alive and well above 4000 rpm.

There are a few touchup restorations I have done and plan to do which I will cover as time goes by. As usual with any new purchase had the oil and filters changed for some piece of mind. The vehicle has a full service history according to mileage but some gaps in time due to standing for long periods.

Some things on the want/to do list:

1. Gearbox and diff oil change, dont have any history.
2. Vanos seals, not sure if its necessary though, car idles fine and no rattles what so ever.
3. Had front bumper resprayed and aftermarket pdc blanked off.
4. Seat rocking, ordered bushes to correct.
5. Door speakers has black paper cover inside speaker which is torn, still undecided on how to fix.
6. The right front dash aircon vent is loose, thinking of 3d printing a black liner to sit it flush on the dash, any advice welcome.
7. Replace the driver door trim as well as door handle trims, should get these from BMW?
8. Aircon compressor or pump has a slight rattle. Will first try a regas and see if it solves it. Blows perfectly cool.

Open to any other advice or mods which will preserve the originality and value of the vehicle.

Temporary fix for the dash vent. The leather is bit crimped so it has gaps around the vent without the black vinyl I put on.

Very nice, i always will have a soft spot for the Z3, to me its such a classic design, polish out the headlights and it will improve its look substantially

I have also grown to love the look, its got quite an aggresive stance from the rear being so low and the long bonet and side vents compliments this a lot. The driving experience at high revs with top down is very pleasant, got a good sunburn yesterday.
