Okay so I got my o2 sensors replaced by the garage that I bought the car from (Free :D)

And it's gone from 18-24l/100km Down to 11l/100km (In town) What a reLIEF!

Now I can use the friggin kickdown :p

Thats a huge difference. Thanks for updating us on your experience.

Just to add further closure to the reason I started this thread: My CEL was on and I was told its the cats. I changed the cats and the light was still on. I was getting a lean code on bank 1 and bank 2. I bought some adapters for the post cat O2 sensors, hoping they would kill the light, but they did not. Oh and i did notice that I was getting a hesitation at high rpm. When accelerating, the car felt like it changed into higher gear but it didn't, it was like a flat spot in the rev range at around the 5k rpm. So I had a spare maf sensor at home and decided to put that in. Well, the weather was rainy, to put it mildly so I was driving pretty sensibly since. The good news is that the CEL went off and stayed off.

BUT Yesterday the road was dry.......

Now I know what a 540i feels like! The power was on another level! That flat spot is gone. It accelerated smoothly and hellishly quickly to the end of the rev range and WOW! Before I knew it I was hitting over the 200km/h mark with a gear to spare on a steptronic and the sound when it upshifts is thrilling (on the racetrack in my backyard btw :thumb:).

I did clean my maf once before but that didn't really make any difference, it may have been too far gone by then.

P1000, if the balls in the valve body have deteriorated, why is the gearbox changing down smoothly under similar circumstances when the aircon is on?

Engine idle RPM is higher when the aircon is on, then the check valves still seem to work even though they are deteriorated. I remember someone saying that a software update fixed this issue...

depends on the condition - advise to take one with books or some receipt history - a good one these days is hard to find.

check the retail value to get an idea, then you can bargain.

good luck
