technical Where to buy Bosch components directly?

Hi,

Does someone know of a place to buy Bosch components directly in SA? I've approached a Bosch Service Centre, but they won't sell spares to me.

Looking for an O2 sensor which Goldwagen doesn't have. Stealer prices, even after forum discount, are just insane.
For reference, I paid only 31% of the BMW cost at GW, for the pre-cat O2 5-wire wide-band sensor.
Looking to replicate that saving on the post-cat unit if possible (item #02, below, which is a 4-wire narrow-band unit).

The equivalent OEM Bosch part code is 16417 as per FCPEuro

Have you tried diesel electric? Otherwise you might have to import...

Thanks, gents.

So while DE does have this SKU on their system, not even their German supplier has stock of it.

So I think I'm just going to buy the universal Bosch unit, @ R1170, which they do have, and splice it onto the old unit's connector as per attached instructions.

Yea, it's very simple. Just wanted to try get a complete unit if I could do so for a reasonable fee. Sensor with the correct connector would've been R1700 at DE, which I would've paid to have everything 'stock'. Not the end of the world having the joint though.

Getting the unit out, and getting to its connector, now that is the tricky bit. It took a lot of fiddling and a cut 22mm spanner to get the wideband out from the top of the engine.

What's funny is I'll now be getting both sensors for less than the discounted price of the cheapest one from BMW. Madness.

Goldwagen does have a cheaper Topran oxygen sensor for my e46 thats a direct fit.

this guy says he worked at bosch and universal sensors are no good

Think the topran will be ok for me?

They're discussing the wide band sensor here (5-wire), which is a much more specialised sensor. They're also discussing generics/knocks-offs. Not to be confused with universal, which is still Bosch-made.

The narrow band (4-wire) units is where the universal option becomes a possibility.
