180k km on a diesel is still baby mileage.

My ex-E39 has clocked 300k km and that's with the dreaded GM box, still untouched. Maintenance goes a long way. What's to say the F10 can't top that, or at least match it? 120k km out of an F10 for the price of a new cheapmobile is a damn good deal, especially for a 3.0d.
You're forgetting something Chef, E39's were bulletproof (I'm sure BMW still kind of kicks itself for making a car so strong it did not even go back in for recalls or parts haha). I am not saying the F10 isn't as strong but I am sure they have made certain compromises so that they make money from people coming back for parts etc. But to be honest I'd go for it.

Lol, I wasnt planning on selling my E60, but because my E60 was in mint condition, many people asked me if I dont want to sell, and I always said, give me R180k and I will sell, otherwise I wont, and somebody came and give me R180k, and that was a 2008 530d M-Sport, also with 180k kms, so I basically upgraded 3 years in yearmodel, new shape 5 series, same km's, for R70k more, and the dealer through in a 2 yr aftermarket warranty on the F10,
Otherwise I wouldnt have sold the E60, because I loved it
You got an F10? Ah man did I miss the thread?...

Dude read up. This is the thread

Okay, so I sold my E60 530d M-Sport today, so now the search for a replacement starts all over.

Problem with having had a 5 series 3.0d for 8 months, a 2.0d and a 3 series wont be good enough. So the replacement must be a 5 again, and a 3.0d:rollsmile:

I can get a 2011 530d F10 M Sport for a price I can afford, but obviously the km's is high, (180k km's) and going for R100k below trade value. (trade = R350k, I I get the car for R250k)

I know its maybe dangerous, but I cannot afford a F10 with average km's, R250k is max i can afford, and ones with average km's goes for R350k +.

Please give me your views about this, as I must make a decision, and dont know what to do.

Very high kms indeed, could end up costing you more than the R100k you will save in the worst case scenario.

Best case should be okay, weigh up the risks and decide but I would say play it safe.

How is 180k kms “very high mileage”? These motors run forever,180k km shouldn’t be a concern at all.

5 years and 180k I think is what he was going for, over 35k per year. Either way, the buyer shouldn’t confuse a troublesome with maintenance at close to 200k
