Personally mate, I'd rather look at a 330d or something... 187 000 km is really a lot. You'll put on 10 000km chop just from enjoying your new car. It'll be easily at 200 000km by 2017. If the box on that car goes for ANY reason, or the diff, you are gonna pay big bucks. Already you've maxed out your budget. Why max it out on a car that WILL cost you money going forward? If this was about say maybe a 5 series that's bare bone with zilch extras but low mileage, sure why not. Don't do that to yourself.

How about a 528i? You can get nice mielage ones for your budget.

For interests sake, ask around how much you'd get for a 2011 F10 with that mileage as trade in. Don't do that to yourself.

It's really not alot... 180k km is fokkol in the grand scheme of things. Gearboxes and engines are not designed to break. I'd buy it. Send to ZF do a gearbox service and be good to go. That car will do 500k km

Replace some bushes makes sure it serviced, and it will be all sorted.

You should check the history of the car first, ask BMW what they have on it and PM Coisman.

180k km on a diesel is still baby mileage.

My ex-E39 has clocked 300k km and that's with the dreaded GM box, still untouched. Maintenance goes a long way. What's to say the F10 can't top that, or at least match it? 120k km out of an F10 for the price of a new cheapmobile is a damn good deal, especially for a 3.0d.

Thanks for all the opinions guys. I log in every 30mins to view the comments. Keep the opinions coming please.
When I said R250k is max I can afford, I meant its the max bank payments I can afford. My finance is already approved today. I did "half" of my research today, will do the rest tomorrow, I just had a look at it yesterday, and started it, want to go back and test drive it before signing anything.
Please keep the opinions coming guys

Jaaast do iiiit

I jaaast diiiid

After sending it for a Dekra tecnical test, it came out with a few fault codes on the diagnostic part, I forwarded to someone at BMW (very helpfull guy), the codes on there werent too serious, I also sent the report to the dealer, they came back to me and promise me they will repair all of that, send it to Dekra again for a restest (just the diagnostic part).
So I went there yesterday, test drove it, and while we were driving, I told the sales guy to call his office to get tge bank contract ready, if I come back I want to sign.

The car really doest feel like a car with that km's, (my E60 also didnt feel like a car with 180k km).

The difference I felt in the short test drive between the F10 and the E60, the F10 is def a little quieter inside, engine noise are also less on the F10, and the F10 also feel a little bigger inside.

Well, I will get delivery next week some time, and cannot wait:joy::joy::joy:

Dont worry, from next week on I will bore you with pics. Will take me a few days to figure out all the buttons, as there are quite alot more buttons than on the E60.
There so much buttons and features, sure if I search, Im going to find a built in bread toaster and hairdryer there as well

Beautiful, congratulations. I'm confident you made the right decisions, take care of it and it will serve you well for a long time. And don't sell it after 8 months lol.

Lol, I wasnt planning on selling my E60, but because my E60 was in mint condition, many people asked me if I dont want to sell, and I always said, give me R180k and I will sell, otherwise I wont, and somebody came and give me R180k, and that was a 2008 530d M-Sport, also with 180k kms, so I basically upgraded 3 years in yearmodel, new shape 5 series, same km's, for R70k more, and the dealer through in a 2 yr aftermarket warranty on the F10,
Otherwise I wouldnt have sold the E60, because I loved it

You're forgetting something Chef, E39's were bulletproof (I'm sure BMW still kind of kicks itself for making a car so strong it did not even go back in for recalls or parts haha). I am not saying the F10 isn't as strong but I am sure they have made certain compromises so that they make money from people coming back for parts etc. But to be honest I'd go for it.
