335 Intercooler/meth

If your considering keeping the original cooler, what about spray bars onto the cooler to assist with heatsoak? Instead of running the meth froM your ww bottle how about using it just to spray water onto your cooler? I'm not sure if you guys saw those cryotemp products a while back, they had intercooler 'freeze kits' , if memory serves me correct, they used nitros on the cooler to bring temp downs dramatically

I'l probably go for a boot mounted tank as im sceptical about using the ww tank.My diesel has a leak from the pipe and i have to top up fliud every now and then.Imagine if i have meth leaking into the engine bay..

I'd would definitely NOT recommend going for a ww tank setup as meths boils much lower at JHB altitude. (see my post: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=28352&page=2). Meths sits too long in the line from the ww tank and absorbs a lot of heat from the engine bay.

Am running an ETS intercooler, was well priced and seems to do the job, made a significant difference to intake temps. Don't just look at the size of the IC but rather the density and quality of the core. The bonus was that I didn't have to cut the bumper, however I had to cut through the one-way factory metal clamp securing the rubber tubing on the turbo side of the stock IC. (The ETS doesn't use the stock IC snap-on clips) This could potentially be an issue later for any MP claims that are turbo related, as I dont think i'll be able to replace the clamp with a factory one?

I run my meth in the ww tank and haven't had problems yet, ibut I must say I haven't gone more than 50/50 meth/water mix and so far so good!
Just read Baracus post the other day about meth being lighter than water, just always did my mixes on volume not weight so mabe my mix is more like 60/40... But no problems yet!!!

No Mercy what make of kit are u running? I suspect my problem is because the Vishnu meths pump sits right upfront in the engine bay? I think its the length of the unpressurized line from the ww tank to the pump thats the problem, once past the pump it shouldn't be an issue

Ah now theres an idea :idea: Read about these kits on another forum but never given it much thought.I will now.Heres a link that explains more about these kits.Price seems like a bargain if they half as effective as they say

Baracus i have been following your thread and i wouldn't use the ww tank,prefer a boot mounted tank just for peace of mind.Also agree about engine heat,it must be a factor..

Had a look at Cryo + water sprayer. Works out to R4800 excl shipping

Seems like a excellent product for gains you get.

I've been meaning to update this thread for ages,just never got down to it :flyfun:

I decided to go with meth first so i got the bms trunk mount kit,Stett charge pipe and fsb controller from Rennzport which integrates perfectly with the jb. Decided to go with the trunk mount kit for a couple of reasons but above all else,peace of mind really.

Did about 2000km's since then and no issues at all. Meth is a must to get the most out of these cars and I've been loving it. Didn't get a chance to do a cooler because I'm contemplating selling the car If i end up keeping the car,a cooler is definitely going on.

Anyways never got a chance to thank Zaahier and Charles @ Rennzport for all the help with installing,setting up and tuning! Always a pleasure dealing with you guys :ty: :thumbs:
