330i E90 Clutch Replacement

Hi Guys,

Just needed some advice, sent my car to the dealership yesterday (Wednesday,01 June). I complained of shudder on 1st gear and they said they would investigate. The service adviser got back to me and mentioned the technician would be replacing the clutch plate and flushing the gearbox oil. Now I am no technician, but surely they need to replace the clutch in the process??

Let them check the Flywheel too. Dual mass fluwheels on these cars seems to be an issue at very low KM's...

Agreed BMW M...

at 80k km i had the same thing on mine..
Clutch kit done + dual mass flywheel etc etc... sorted now and MP pays 15k.

sabre - Make sure they check the flywheel as M said. The not so nice part is first 500km after that not to rev over 3k.. :cursin:

definitely they have to check dual mass flywheel, i also had a shudder on 1st and they replaced the clutch, flywheel flushed the gearbox oil and my car did this on 47900 into 48300km. 2008 model

I have very slight shudder on 1st but its not all the time though. I know these clutches tend to shudder when they get hot.

any shudder should be checked, the guys at BMW said no shudder even when harsh should be felt..check it out akash

My 330i's clutch is usually a smooth as silk - the only time that it tends to give a hint of wanting to shudder is when the car is cold and my revs on pull-off are just a bit lower than the engine/clutch wants. I am generally very gentle with clutches and don't ride them, so hoping this will lengthen the lifespan...

I've had no shudder at all over the weekend, even with my wife getting caught over the weekend in construction traffic or today when going to work. I think it may be the flexi disc at the end of the gear box or the center bearing on the drive shaft, this will also give a shudder when taking off in 1st gear at still.

Never replaced the clutch, there was nothing wrong with it, the car is still on the original clutch since production 2006 and over 250 000kms
