29 October Saturday:
I arrived at 8:30 as instructed to do earlier on the week so that we could do the stage 1 tuning on Saturday. Ashley mentioned to me when I arrived at the workshop that there were races happening in Durban and there may be a long delay before he gets the file from Durban. At this point I was unsure why it wasn’t mentioned to me beforehand but being new to the process I was fine with bringing the car back later that day to do the tuning. He did the initial reading of my car. Saturday was essentially a waste of time because my car did not get tuned as planned. I did get briefed by Ashley earlier that week that tuning would take up to 2 or 3 hours, so my expectations were 2 or 3 hours out of my Saturday to get my car tuned. I gave him a pass because he said he must wait for a file from his colleagues in Durban before he can touch the car.
30 October Sunday:
Ashley instructed me to make a payment for the tuning and the down pipe (the initial idea was to do this in stages, but I decided on the last minute ill do the downpipe so that he doesn’t have to retune my car when I put the down pipe on my car. Apparently, that’s a thing). I processed payment later the day and by 16:48 he received the payment. We arranged for my car to be picked up on Monday and I was excited. Honestly speaking nobody I have ever dealt with has sent a driver to fetch a car of mine and this was super cool and convenient if I can add that.
31 October Monday:
Ashley sent a driver to collect my car. The car was collected at 10:00 and spent the entire day at Xcede performance for a downpipe and stage 1 tuning. I was called by Ashley at 15:50 and advised that my car isn’t ready. I told him its fine I want the car to be 100% finished before he handed it back to me. He set the expectation that the car would be ready by 12:00 the next day.
01 November Tuesday:
12:00 has come and gone so I texted Ashley at 12:51 for an update. Ashley told me that they were busy testing the car at that moment and will have the car back to me as soon as it is done. 16:30 Ashley let me know that he is not 100% happy with the car and would like to keep the car an extra day. I agreed to this because I would prefer my car to be 100% before I get it back.
02 November Wednesday:
I received a text at 12:50 that my car was ready and will be delivered later that day. My car was delivered at 15:30. On my way home from work I was not able to test my car because of traffic.
30 November Wednesday:
Its been 4 weeks to the date and I can feel my car is more responsive and the tune is good. Super happy with the tune and the work Ashley did on my car. My turbo sounds more refined and my car pulls.
I am not saying in any way shape or form that my experience was bad. My expectations on the service delivery were a lot higher than what was received due to reviews I have read on the forum. This post is meant for anyone who is thinking of using Xcede Performance CPT so that they can get an idea on how they communicate with clients, and what my timeline was like with them. You are welcome to decide for yourself if the experience I had is something you would want to have or endure. My only tip would be to have a spare car on site or have reliable lifts or be open to the idea of ubering to various locations (which I had to do).
