Eina bliksem! :blueCry:

Yeah it's amazing how fast that tow hook must've been going to do that damage. I only heard a soft "clink" sound and saw the damage later on after getting my friend's car home.

Sorry Bro. Did their tow eye come off the polo or the hook connecting to the toe eye split?

The tow hook came out of the threaded hole on the Polo. There was crud on the inside and we could only get ot turned in about 2-3 turns. The rope got slack and I tried to slow down a little with the throttle but it wasn't enough as the force sheared the thread on the tow hook clean off. It didn't even feel violent.

Gonna see is my friend Nando can organise an M-sport bumper and also get a new bootlid. MD House wants R3500 for the bootlid, unpainted and the msport bumper with diffuser is like R4150 or thereabouts.

I think they can probably fix it, but I have never seen a panelbeating job that has the results I want. I hate body filler like the plague

Just got a quote from Targa Panel beaters in Centurion.

Not sure why they quoted for a new stiffener though.

Because they trying to take you for a ride. :smashScreen:

They also seem to be charging you twice for paint. There are paint prices next to the supply items that need paint, and then they charging for "paint blending" again at the bottom. :RedNo:

Also, if they are supplying all the parts new, then why are there are repair costs as well?

Yeah that quote is crazy. I would prefer to have a new bootlid, but there's no way the paint can be over R2000, and the stiffener doesn't need replacing. I'll see what I can organise this Friday

lol, Targa said my repair was too small for them to do and they dont like working on BMW's because the owners always complain. He referred me to the place opposite them and that place said my car is too old for them to repair and they wont quote me.

That quote is ridiculous though

Any reputable panelbeaters you can recommend? I personally think all panelbeaters do crap repairs, but I guess I have no choice

its a difficult situation, i went to a reputable panel shop and was terrified at the service, I dont know of any one i would recommend.

whatever you do, do not take your car to Dentdoctor Hennopspark. My front bumper needed a respray after some chop decided to bump into it. Had to send it back 4 times, eventually took the bumper to ABS autobody to repaint.

Martin, There is a place also in centurion that do good work. Guy's name is Colin. It's in the same business park as S&N (BMW only) Ran by Sakkie Pienaar

They do bumper resprays for around R2k and it's good work.

Elite Auto and body repairs. RMI and BMW approved

Colin : 082 678 9400

or office : 081 417 7443

Tell him you spoke to me and he will give you a great price.

Excellent! It's always good to get advice from guys who have had 1st hand experience at places - otherwise it's pretty much a case of Russian roulette with panelbeaters.

I'll make work of it to get more quotes and get a feel for the places and ask to see some of their repairs as well.

I only discovered them this month Sash, I haven't used them as a panelbeater before. Small shop, but low overheads and everyone seems to work together nicely so it creates a healthy work environment which I like.
