Just remember these words please chap;
A person's true character isn't defined by the easy times, but is shown in periods of difficulty.

as for taking the time to apologise, that's pretty stand-up.
Well done.
Let's hope there is nothing irreversible done

Good on you for apologising, you right we do not know you and all we had as reference was the tripe you spouted on fb. Frustration or not with your car, from this it just looks like an attack against this forum and its members.

Next time perhaps think about what you about to spew and there will be no need for a half assed excuse to try remedy the situation.

Hi guys

Okay first thing's first, I apologize for my outburst on Facebook, thinking about it now it was stupid of me to make that statement. It is true I've been helped a lot by my friends who I met during my years being a member of the vwcsa. Not to mention new friends like Andy who has been a stand-up guy since day one.

I am saddened that Arbee, Ash and some of my other acquaintances have badmouthed me and shared my moment of anger on a site dedicated to BMW enthusiasts - why not message me first and ask me why I posted the message first? It was obvious what the outcome would be by posting it here.

To clarify, my message was posted in anger and pure frustration, and I'll be the first one to admit that it's because of my very limited background with BMW's. My out-lash was more a general comment brought about by my frustration in acquiring decent information regarding the diagnostics of my car.

Anyone who knows me, knows that everything on my car must be 100% as it should, and after hours and hours of scouring the internet and reading forums trying to figure out what the obscure error codes mean, I was left with absolutely no concrete answers. If I go to the BMW dealership, I ask for advice from the technicians and bluntly get told that I need to book the car in without even listening to my thoughts on cause of the errors. It's just been very frustrating for me.

As for the people jumping on the bandwagon and calling me a douche, and to stick my cheap coilovers (really, you judge my car based on how expensive my mods are??) in my nought, and to crawl back into the hole I came from? That is uncalled for, you do not know me personally.

Ask anybody that knows me personally, and they will tell you how many hours I've spent helping them fix their cars, fitting mods, driving out to their houses at 23:00 at night to help them get their cars running for work the next day, getting up at 4:30 in the mornings, washing my car, driving to events and helping set up the timing equipment, sweeping the roads, packing cones, providing technical advice and assistance etc the whole day, and then go home burnt to a crisp.

I am a car enthusiast before anything else. So please, reserve your comments if you do not know the type of person I am.

So once again, apologies are in order from my side - I hope this hasn't tarnished my reputation going forward, but I guess that's wishful thinking.

Martin,

Thanks for apologizing and advising us that it is that you just had a bad day and found the need to tarnish the BMWFanatics members on Facebook. We understand and forgive you...

However, if you look back at the facebook posts, you will see, Ash mentioned on FB that you comment is uncalled for to which you replied, "oh yes, So far that is my experience". Prior to it being mentioned here...

But anyways, we better than that and you have apologized so bygones!

Thanks
Arbee

You need to understand....Its not easy to piss off Arbee....So what you did he really took to heart considering how much he and others are trying to uplift this forum.

This forum can only grow by word of mouth and you went and tarnished the name to whoever read your post.

I read through the posts and guys were really trying to help you. Granted you had a bad day but you classed all members here.

I hope in time all will be made up and you get the respect from members once again.

hey Martin

big of you to apologise and as Arbee says, bygones. there is an old saying that goes, do not bite the hand that feeds you. you have bitten the hand that has and although you have apologised and no grudges will be held but do not expect a warm hand when you needing assistance. the funny thing though, with my statement, these guys will probably still help you anyway.

these guys have become like big brothers to me.. Yes, they may not know everything(except Gizmo and Peter, they know alles) or have all the answers but they are more than willing to help where they can and go to the ends of the earth to help someone in need.

With that said, if you are a married man and have a family, you can probably relate. when you are frustrated with whatever, don't take it out on the ones closest to you because they are the ones that make you frustrating day worth it at the end when seeing their smiles. The same works here, no matter how frustrating you car can be, these guys make it worth while having those problems because we all have experienced frustration at some point with our cars and we relate..

just my 2 cents bro..

soooo, don't sell your car for a sportline ;-)

Thanks for understanding guys. Let's hope I can get to the bottom of my engine cut-out issue.

I scanned the car last night and it turned up initialisation errors on the glow plugs (I hear this is normal), and also the following codes for the injectors:

"Injector Cyl (1-6) - Activation"

All these error codes are along the lines of "4767", "4797" etc.

I poked and prodded the injector wiring and the car seemed to be fine this morning and felt like it had more power as well. But then the engine cut out again...

I have a suspicion it's got something to do with the wiring.

Where you based? I'm using Rheingold at its a little more verbose on errors. It also has an Action plan that would point you in the right direction to start diagnosing this error.

Welcome to pop past for me to check if you can make it to the East Rand, maybe we get lucky.

I'm in Centurion, but I think it may be prudent to come to you if I don't manage to succeed with my INPA bud. Yester day the engine cutting out was pretty bad, and the missfire on the highway was quite noticeable. After fiddling with the wiring, the car feels better and the miss has diminished drastically. It also only cuts out now when I floor it.
Can I access the in-tank fuel pump and filter from under the back seat? I want to see if there isn't any crap on the filter. I'm also going to drain the diesel out of the fuel lines and fuel filter to see if any sediments are present.

It must fueling related or wiring-related. All 6 injectors can't be going at the same time, it must be either one of the two inputs to the injectors.

Agreed. Must be something common to all the injectors.

You can get to the tank from the back seat. The filter, I'm afraid, is a lot less fun to sort out. It sits under the passenger seat under the car. And you have to pretty much strip all the bottom covers to get to it. Have a fistful of Urbanol before attempting a filter change.
