Good luck with the troubleshooting. Think i should invest in a cable as well.

Thanks man. The cable isn't as user friendly as the VAG equivalent, but it's simple enough. Installation is a bit tricky but if you follow the instructions you'll be fine.

I'm getting my 17" m-sport wheels later today and will do alignment as well to get the steering wheel centered. Hopefully the DTC errors go away.

What's happening is that the wheels are all turning at the same speed, so the ECU thinks great, the car is moving straight... But then it sees the steering wheel is off-center and then gives an error and disables the DTC.

Alignment should do the trick.

Has your turning circle been affected? If you turn to lock left and then right is it the same? e.g. 1 and a 3 quarters when the wheels are pointing straight or when the steering wheel is straight?

No the steering wheel is just a little off-center. When on full lock to the left, the bottom bar of the steering wheel stops at a different position as opposed to when it's at full lock to the right. The steering wheel needs to be centered.

Alignment seems to have sorted the DTC errors. Clean dash once more! Will have to see if the engine cutting out has also been rectified, but I'm guessing not. I'll go through the car tonight and check the plugs in the engine, check brake fluid etc.

Update time

I got my INPA cable and software... I need to get the right *.prg file so I can read my engine's live data... Flipping frustrating doing diagnostics on these cars, the user interface sucks, and the amount of effort to get the cable up and running is a pain in the arse... The cable looks to be decent quality at least, and I can't fault Zasttra.com for the delivery, it was quick and easy, no fuss.

Setting up the software. What a tedious process... And now I have to search the internet for the right file so the program can read my engine module's data and error codes individually.

I thought maybe my battery is on its way out, but I tested it and it seems fine.

There's supposed to be some kind of diode that changes colour. I see nothing lol. Stupid thing must've broken off.

As is the trend with rides threads these days, I have to post a pic of my car getting alignment done.

20141209_140635.jpg

Everything was out after installing the coilovers. Toe and camber were the worst affected. I also discovered that the top dampener mountings weren't torqued - I could turn it with my hand :hammerhead: SO that's sorted now at least.

20141209_141036.jpg

And I also picked up some cheap msport wheels from a bmwfanatics forum member. The rims look good but the paint has started peeling from some or other substance. Will have to strip the paint and redo the rims. That's IF I can stop being lazy lol.

After a half-hearted wash they look decent enough.

I need to get to the bottom of my engine cutting out. It;s doing it more regularly. It's kinda dangerous driving on the highway, then having the engine cut out... I then have to try start the engine, and it just swings. I push the stop/start button to stop the cranking, wait like 2 seconds, and then the car will start normally after pushing the start button...

WTF

Oh, I forgot to mention, my locknut key has gone into hiding... Joy. :skit:

Just to point out and add:

Ash and I advised you via whatsapp of all the common issues and costs involved in buying a BMW. Many minutes where spent helping you.

There was even an open offer to come and drive my car to see if you would like the feel of a 330d.

Andy has helped you... if i scan through the thread, many people are willing to help.

Yet you label us as losers and stupid.

Each to their own i suppose, but seriously uncalled for.

Where is that ban hammer
No need to ban... Maybe Martin was/is having a bad day. He might come around and apologize and realise his mistake. Or maybe he has a valid point and we, losers, need to work on our posing. Maybe even send our cars in to fill the washer fluid. Who knows...

Let's give him a chance to rectify...
