I agree! The rears need to come out of hiding in those arches.

Hopefully I can get to the bottom of my DTC errors sometime this week with Andy's help. The car currently has no traction control and I hate having error lights on my dash. My car has to be running 100% at all times.

Agreed, my Passat gave me a emissions warning on Friday.. now it is parked until I can take it to VW, probably on Saturday.

Bloody cars with their crap.

Martin... the rain sensor must be activated manually on the stalk on the right... press the button on the edge of the stalk and a green light will come on.

Your Luxus-Rakete is looking good bud :=):

I have a wifi OBD scanning tool, but it's not picking up any error codes on any car I've tried scanning. Strange. I will need to invest in a INPA cable and software.

I see the green light come on, but there is no response from the wipers. It just wipes once when I press the stalk button and than does nothing. I think it may have something to do with the fact that my rain/light sensor's glue failed and the double sided tape I used to stick it back onto the window may be the cause of the problem as the sensor probably needs to be right up against the glass?

I bit the bullet and ordered a cable and INPA software from Zasttra. Should have it before the end of the week hopefully.

We scanned my car last night using Rodga's INPA, but it couldn't read the engine or get live data from it. We did however get some error codes which we saved, and then cleared from the DTC module. There is one error that isn't going away though - steering angle sensor. My steering wheel isn't sitting straight after we fitted the coilovers, so I suspect alignment is in order.

It can be reset with INPA I believe, I don't know if mine is capable of doing it but would love to try.

Mine does read the M57 motor DME so we can have a look at yours as well.

Yeah not sure why it wasn't reading your engine module, it read my mine fine though.

Andy can we have a look tonight?

My cable is somewhere between Durban and Pretoria now. I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I believe it's a vital tool for any car enthusiast to have.

My thermostat appears to be seized in the open position - stealershits want R1046 for it, GW wants just shy of R800 for the thing. I'm gonna mail the dealership that I bought the car from and ask if they can pay for it seeing as it hasn't been working since I got the car and it's causing high diesel consumption and unnecessary wear on my bottom-end.

I can get you more discount on the OEM part. To almost match GW's price. Tonight is fine, just give me a ring as I'm going to the airport to pick up the M5 head gasket set :) Then home to drop it off.

That sounds good bud, I'll give you a call a bit later this evening so we can arrange a meet-up.:=):

The dealership contacted me and they're gonna see if they can claim for the thermostat to be replaced under the warranty I took out for the car.

Otherwise I'll just buy the damn thing and fit it myself.:hammerhead:

Yeah nobody likes unnecessary wear on their bottom-end

So Friday my cable arrived via courier. Andy helped me scan my car in the meanwhile to see if my wheel speed sensors are working, and they are. Car is also boosting 1.4Bar as requested. I think SW boosts around 0.3Bar more. Software really livens these cars up, it's crazy how you can make the smallest of gaps grow with all that torque!

On another note, the POS has started doing something strange - this morning I accelerated past a truck on a hill and the engine cut out. I tried restarting it while coasting but it wouldn't take - just kept swinging... So I pull off on the side of the road, push the start button, and the thing starts like normal, no issues.

I them thought it was fuel starvation as my range was around 35km. I then stop at the garage and do a partial fill-up of around 24liters. I then hoof it out of the garage and bam, engine cuts out completely. I come to a stop and start the damn thing and carry on with my 60km commute on the highway from Honeydew to Centurion.

I get near my house in Centurion and give the car some beans as I near my house, no problems at all and pulls like a train right through the rev range. I then hoof it near my work and the engine cuts out again...

There are no warning lights or errors relating to the engine. I'll have to scan it with INPA.

I'm growing a little tired of this car. It gets upset for the smallest things. :smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen:

Sounds like you already have an idea that it can be fuel related. If it's starvation related it could be fuel filter or injector. I'm thinking if the fuel rail pressure drops below a certain value it would cause it to safety shutdown.

The E90 320d I had showed a fuel filter code on INPA so that could be it.

Hopefully the codes reveal something.

I hope so too. I have replaced all the filters, including the fuel filter and have done around 2000km since. I wonder if maybe there wasn't something that got sucked in from the tank?
