After clearing memory faults these remain hard faults and will not clear. could the LIN bus be the cause of the shifting?

Fault code memory list
Fault code Description
0049A5 LIN bus : Communication fault
00A66E FZD: Interior lights in rear

Following LIN bus communication fault code is logged:
49A5 LIN bus : Communication fault
Permanent fault
Frequency:1
Healing counter:0
Possible fault causes: Short to B+, short to ground in LIN bus wiring
harness / in one of the connected LIN bus users.
The fault status is read out in the next test step.
False
Engine control unit LIN bus function check:
Fault status is continuously read out. The status changed within 90
seconds.
Current fault status | :
49A5 LIN bus : Communication fault
Permanent fault
For this, individually disconnect the installed LIN users on the engine
control unit (see wiring diagram). If the fault code memory status
changes to "currently not present"the cause of fault is in the disconnected
user/section of wiring harness. If the fault status does not
change, another bus user may be defective, the main wiring harness
damaged or the engine control unit defective.
Important: At least one bus user must remain connected otherwise
the status of the communication fault will remain "currently present".
If the status does not change, unplug the last user and connect a
different bus user.
True
If the communication fault still persists, disconnect all users and check
the line and plug connections for short-circuits.
Check following lines and plug connections:M_LIN
False

Yep Mileage? I would suggest an adaptations reset and getting Zf to do a service :coolShake:

Google ZF procedure to reset gearbox and follow the instructions. Could be just a reset problem. You did not really describe the problem. Does it only give a hard downshift when coming to a stop or is it all the time? Also, do you have the same size tyres on the rear axle and about the same tread? Different brands/worn and good tyres on the same axle can cause all kinds of gearbox problems. Just my 2c's. Also, please tell us what year, model and mileage of the car. Thanks

Nope, LIN faults won't cause hard downshifts hey. What's the mileage on the car bud?

130937km its a 2009 330d. Then it must be something thats not picked up by the Computer. When I scanned the car the first time there were a lot of errors but nothing on the EGS it was green on rheingold tree but only the 2 remain after clearing as seen in my first post.

I can remember on my 325i e90 LCI I had this hard shifting up in the lower gears and started intermittently and a Puma case was opend and then they replaced my mechatronics and oil and this solved the problem. I recon ZF should be able to help the owner then

I did reset the adaptions on the Gearbox. As the owner described its only from 2 to 1st when coming to a stop. I did tell him to get in Contact with Gert and point him in the right direction once he is back in Joburg.

Yes I did Mention to him since there were No errors showing under EGS that ZF can help with that and Gert can help or tell if the LIN bus is serious or related

Ouch, at that mileage many of the boxes start showing similar symptoms hey. And truth be told, he is past the point where a simple oil change would do the trick.

He should go to ZF so they can test the oil for him, but I'm afraid the prognosis won't be good... He can also contact Jaco from Autotrans. He is ex ZF and does really good work.

If the gearbox was replaced by BMW you should still have a warranty on it. Go query it with them

sorry mate, I had issues with my second 330d from day one, they replaced the box twice and then they stopped changing it trying to blame me for its demise, so I dumped it for a huge loss, I believe that ZF box is the worst auto box on the market.
