320i vs 335i

So what if a E90 320i, E46 318i, E36 316i, E30 316, or whatever entry model is lower in power than the higher end model? Its kinda obvious, unless you one of those "mine is bigger than yours stuck-up yuppies, that look down on other people" that cant grasp the obvious facts.

I have owned many cars, amongst them my two Beemers, and the 320i makes alot of sense to me (although I have never owned one),it is what it is! Some of the other brand cars I owned I would swop for a E90 320i anyday.

Now if you still cant get that, dont call yourself a fanatic.

I still say that an E90 320i can outperform a F10 M5 !! :mmm:

just imagine what would this forum be like without people like coisman.

:ty: for bringing humour. some of us take things far too seriously on here.

Your point makes very little sense... No one talks down to M3 drivers, but I think the 320i drivers feel thats what happens to them. You cannot compare the 2 situations at all.

maybe makes very little sense to you but makes perfect sense to me (if you still don't understand then pm me and i will draw little pictures to help you). perhaps you should look back at some of the posts taking aim at the m3 especially from us x35i drivers :) everyone is entitled to their opinion that is what an open forum is about. if an m5 driver tells me that my 135i is underpowered and a pointless waste of money do you honestly think i am going to lose sleep over it?

Draw little pictures for me? *chuckles* No need for smug comments and a poor portrayal of sarcasm. If you feel such makes your intellect and inability to reason sound elevated, and you get an overwhelming feeling of euphoria from this, then I was correct about my initial thoughts about your intellect from initial perusal of your comment.

You STILL make NO sense. At what point does a disagreement between x35i drivers and M3 drivers (as you have aptly put it) compare to drivers of "elite" vehicles in the BMW range making fun of "entry level" BMW drivers. Of course an M3 driver will not care if an x35i driver says their vehicle is rubbish, DUH!!!!. It's a fight between titans...

Let me break it down to you at Julius Malema High School grade level, maybe this will make better sense:

A 320i driver will for the most part, not have a wallet that stretches further than the vehicle they drive at the time.

An M3 driver CHOSE to by an M3, and could have bought an x35i or whatever, but CHOSE NOT to. (Are you seeing pictures in your head getting drawn now?) It's simple really... M3 drivers et al, have MORE Choice, and 320i have LITTLE IF ANY CHOICE.

So now stop ranting and trying to sound intelligent with a contribution that holds no water!

I do agree with your final point however; such forum dialogue is healthy, and such threads open the floor for debate. All views are welcome, and locking a thread does nothing to quell the views that each member holds. Be they of good intentions or bad.

I've been following this thread and was hoping it would end by page 2 and i see it still going on...

Guys and girls, ladies and gents....

I'm lucky that i got a 323i which is in any way not much faster than a 320i and alot slower than a 325i... so what do i have.. the sound of a 6cyl BMW that i love.... when my car went it to get the gearbox sorted a got a brand new 320i with i think 90km on the clock... and to tell you the truth at that point i would've taken it for a straight swop on my car as it's still a bloody comfortable drive. i liked it cause it had DRL's that i don't have in mine. mine has sport suspension and the 320i didn't so it was more comfy than my car...

The 3 days odd that i had the car i enjoyed it.. yes it's still not got the performance of my 323i but it drives just as nice as mine.

then i also got given a 116i and that had less performance but still a very comfy drive... get your ass in the car and have a look around... what do you notice ? yip.... still says BMW....

It has the same build quality and same equipment in as a 323 325 330 335... just a smaller engine which should not make any person trash the car.. and as alot of people said it might be what the person can afford or it can be by choice that the person buys a 320i and not a 335i

Whatever the reason you have behind buying the car you have was your own choice... some buy a 335i cause they like the sound some buy them to make a statement and some buy them to say i have something that you cant have...

Whatever your reason and whatever floats your boat that is your baby... also what was said that i agree with 100% is... at least you get a car to drive with while yours are getting sorted out.

i hate to see people jump down each others throats for something as stupid as engine size... first thing that pops into my mind would be harsh and that is... do you need a 330i, 330d,335i, m3 because you have no balls yourself so your car has to make up for it ?

dont take the above as an insult but i do add.. if the shoe fits..... you know what to do...

i like it when people have different views and opinions on things but please don't try and force it down on anyone else...

i personally LOVE BMW... so should all of you if you are on this site i would say...

Relax have fun and if you haven't good anything decent to say about what someone else has on the forum that they worked really bloody hard to get... then rather keep quiet....

Rant over......

Jaques, the problem is not that all these models have a bmw badge, but that you can get a olive in a martini, and still choose if it should be shaken or stirred. :dunno:

As long as that is true, there will always be people that like to shake, and others that like to stir.

Some two cents added.

320i owners choose a 320i not because of financial implications but more what makes them happy.

I know of many owners that have a 320i but could of easily bought a M3.

Their priorities in life are just different.

Whats the point of owning a M3/X35 and living in a flat paying rent or living with Mummy and Daddy. Trust me i know lots of guys that are currently doing this.

Much more to the bigger picture

By far, i think this is one of the shortest yet sweetest explanations purchases and choices and also alot been said as well above. Now we can see how many, like-minded and intelligent fanatics we have on this club.

Jacques24 - you are a newbie, even if you have a x35i vehicle...still doesn't change the fact that you should read all of these posts, take away some knowledge and think before posting next time. As you 'grow' in this club, and actively contribute, you will also reach these levels of love for the brand:thumbs:

Jakkals323i - whereby you say some people buy a car for a reason of them having no balls and their cars have to make up for it, we both know that there are other forums for those type of people around:thumbs:

BMW 320i uber alles!

When I worked at MINI and we were rocking the sales we often ran out of stock, or all the stock on the floor was sold and I would be given a E90 320i (usually with less than 100km on the clock) to drive for a few days.

Yes, it was slow compared to my usual MINI Cooper S. But boy was it a fantastic driving experience. :joy:

I recall one evening my better half and I went out for supper and it was a choice of the MINI Cooper S and a 320i on my driveway, I asked which car we should take and he immediately picked up the BMW keys.

I questioned his actions later that evening and his answer was simple, your MINI is fun, mad and fast. But I feel like a million dollars in the BMW.

A BMW is a BMW - And we are BMW Fanatics.

Thanks for all the positive and negative comments, aZZ-KIKR, it was never a 320 basher thread, it was my experience and opinion on a loaner.:praise:

BTW, this car is actually not a loaner but in fact a 2nd hand approved used car up for sale, please treat this as a warning not to accept a dealers word for an "Approved Used Car". The whole reason why my car is with them is because it was an approved car with 20k on the clock, new tyres and with all safety checks done, all 4 my rims were buckled and they now replaced it after 3 months of fighting.

I spoke to BMW yesterday about the loaner that broke down, the steering rack is fcuked (hence the shitty handling), the lower control arms are shot (again shitty handling) and to top it all off, the car is getting a new motor, it has no compression (hence the extremely poor performance:thumbs:

The company I work for has pretty much got a monopoly in servicing oil rigs around sub Saharan Africa, the CEO of our PE(only PE) branch drives an Aston Martin vantage and a Ferrari V8 (gf's car) + a range rover sport(for fun I guess). The owner of this company(and many, many more multinational company's) drives a 350 S class merc(Bottom of the range btw)... I wonder what his comments on this thread would be...
