Granted the 320i lacks a bit of power but as stated before it was not made for that, the ride and handlin, the look of it in the sports pack guise with a few extras look no different than a 335, it may even get some powerful cars worried at the lights too! After all it's every bit as much a BMW as any other. We all chat and comment over this forum because we all love BMW'S guys! We all have different models, and always want a better one too! So let's put this 320i saga to rest?

Well, low and behold badge bashing. Lets get one thing straight both cars are based on the same car -> so actually the guy who spent approx. R250K for a 320i might actually be a smarter person, considering a 335i owner would spend close to R500K or more for the same car (new) but with a better engine etc. I really dont think the 335i is worth double (new) over the price of the base 320i, especially if you consider how similar the the regular sport pack BMW E90 looks to the 335i and how common the 3series sedan is on the road. Majority of people buy the 320i sport pack because they look good and ok with fuel economy.

A stock sport 335i is only visually different to a stock sport 320i by the twin pipes and badge, hence the reason why people admire the looks of the M3 so much. I know underskin the 335i is a different animal, but the exterior doesnt fit what lies beneath, and most people are looking for a complete package.

I also spent some time with a E90 320i manual as a loan car recently, I wasnt overly thrilled with the performance and moaned, but these cars are designed for a reason to provide high quality and reliable transport (not sit in workshops) to people and not to destroy the 0-100km/h sprint or break records at Nurburgring.

OK guys, my report after 18 hours and 200km of highways & traffic:

Remember, I gave my opinion about a specific loan car 320i auto from BMW with 86,000 km on the clock.

Cars that were faster than me yesterday:
Isuzu 3l diesel
Polo 1.6
Polo Vivo 1.4
Honda Jazz V-Tec (beat me with 2 car lenghts 0-80kph)

Cars that were on par with the cars performance:
Isuzu 2,5 diesel Fleetside

I have beaten only one car off the mark yesterday:
Toyota Hi-Ace Siyaya, fully loaded (with 20 passengers):joy:

I measured the 0-100: +/- 17 sec:facepalm:

To top it all off, this morning, the dash looks like a christmas tree with all the warning lights that are on, the car won't start, so BMW can come fetch it in my garage.

As I said in an earlier post, I think there is something wrong with it, guess I was right, I don't think 0-100 in 17 sec is normal, that was my opinion

Your remarks on the car are based purely on a 400m dice.

This is not how a cars strength is tested.

No it was not, me and the Isuzu 2,5 diesel was on the highway (R21) over taking a truck and going from 70-130 kph, the Isuzu eventually passed me at the 130 mark

You are correct in saying that, a 320i's power is tested by towing a boat... :fencelook:

maybe you need to downscale to a 118i so you dont let important things fly by you

:roflol::roflol::roflol:

Guys, it is my opinion about a pool car from BMW with 86000 km on the clock fitted with an auto box, it's not a personal attack on your caracter, it's an opnion, so please calm down.

I only had a 330d and 335 to compare with, I did not expect 335 power, but it realy surprised me how sluggish it is.

PS:I only drive an E90 because they don't sell new E46's anymore, IMHO, between 2 x E36's, 3 x E46's and 2 E90's, the best drivers car remains the E46. Again please, it's my OPNION:rollsmile:

e46 FTW

breaking vehicles FTW! :tease: :biglol:

lol paying cash for a car FTW
whatever i spend on fixing and modifying my car is nothing compared to finance and depreciation...

plenty ways to view things you just have to choose where you want to stand...

Not in your books but in others perhaps it is, but dependant also, not everyone drives 323i's of the older nature which are cheaper than the rest. so some guy's prefer buying a newer car, paying it off within 2 years and have motorplan and only onsurance to pay, not bad FTW there...

Yeah, I agree, I dont think comparision of the 2 is relevant or meaningful. :thumbdo:

Thread should be closed.
