320d Msport mod

Thought I'd share my mod with you guys. Finally got hold of some Black plastidip on my holiday in the garden route over easter. Found it in George but apparently all the Builders in cape town were getting stock in April. Anyway here's the car before and the whole process.

The finish is very textured if that makes sense and there were a lot of tiny bubbles. Could sanding it give it a more clean matte look? Maybe I didn't spray it properly but this is the process I followed. Cleaned the chrome bits and dried them, sprayed first coat till it was completely covered, moving the can left to right while going across. Waited 45mins to dry, and repeated for 3 coats.

I did it just to see what the black looked like because im going to the states in a couple of days and will buy the gloss black ones when im over there, as they are a lot cheaper.

Sorry for the crappy camera quality.

Been searching for black plasti-dip in the Cape, apparently Quest are also sold out (the importers I believe)

Are you going to spray the chrome on the outside of the grill?

Oh, and no you cannot sand plastidip, it wil come off. Rather peel it off, redo in thin even coats, up to 5 coates, can give it 15min between coats.

Builders Warehouse said they would have stock beginning of April.

I don't think I'll be doing the kidney grill because I'm just going to buy the gloss black grill in the USA when im there. And maybe a pair of aftermarket headlights.

So i mustn't cover it completely with each coat? Because I sprayed it till it was completely covered.
