Update
Mileage about 151 000km
About 3 weeks ago l had koni str.t shocks fitted supplied by Peter@AEW. The originals were completely blown and the fronts were leaking. The rears would not return after being compressed and the fronts returned very slowly. All required only one finger pressure to push the shaft down.
Now with the Koni shocks at first they rode hard and harsh over bumps and imperfections on the road. The ride was worse then when I had rfts. Contacted Peter and he said they are firm shocks but not hard or harsh. He also said I check my tyre pressure and suggested front 2.2 and rear 2.4. I was on front 2.5 and rear 2.7.
After adjusting the tyre pressures the ride is so much more smooth and comfortable. The car handles much better on the straight and the corners as well.
I had a very slight steering wheel vibration above 90km from the time I had rfts on. Tried balancing a few times no change. I just put it down as the hard sidewall of the rfts and the roads I travel on are not smooth. I just left it as is and was gonna look into it when I started on the suspension. Now with the new shocks it's alot more. My mechanic and Vinesh from Suspension King have both checked the front suspension and found only very slight play on one of the control arms. Both of them said that this won't cause a vibration to this extent and I must look at rims and tyres. Tyres were balanced by Mintys in January when purchased and then 2 weeks later at twt. Then last week I got them road forced balanced at Bmw. This lessened the vibration. Two days ago while driving on the N2 the steering vibrated from 90km to 120km. I didn't exceed 120km so not sure past that speed. Yesterday and today a very slight vibration hardly noticeable. So it's not constant. Just hope it's stays that way.
Also had the vibration damper pulley and belt changed.
Yesterday I took the car to Detail Xcellence for a minor update on the paint work. It was much needed as the last time it was polished was in December 2016. As much I wanted to do a paint correction and ceramic coat I couldn't because of the time the process takes. So just a wash, clay, single stage polish and wax was done. I also replaced the ppf on the front splitters and added some tail light tint. Overall I'm happy with the results.
