320D E90 air hose

If you have a 320D E90 and there's an annoying noise from the engine and the air hose keeps coming loose, it may be because that hose has shrunk.

It's common that the hose ("rubber boot") shrinks from the turbo's heat, after the engine's been washed. The original part has been superseded with a hose made of different materials, intended to NOT shrink. Here's a comparative photo of old and new, as well as the agents' part number.

I had the same problem and I put a little screw on either side and works perfectly every since

As far as we know, yes. You're looking at about R450.

What downsides are there to not replacing it?

If its still secure its fine. Mine kept falling off. Just check it every now and then. There se no downsides to not replacing it if it is still connected on both sides.
