Hi all

First Post and its a problem :hammerhead:

So i just got my first BMW:rollsmile: its a 320D 2010 and i have a strange problem with it..

Car goes fine full of power. However if i accelerate hard i get a strange vibration coming through the car above 3500RPM... However if i keep my foot flat it stays even after changing gears however if i tap off and floor it again then its gone for a few seconds.

make matters worse it starts to push out a black smoke when this happens. but again as soon as the vibration goes so does the smoke.

:smashScreen:

Please can some one help a bemer NOOB here.. :praise:

Big Thanks in advance!

Try and get a fanatic with diagnostics and see what error code your car has. That will give you some sort of direction

so few months down the line and after going to a few places to try get this sorted out i am booking the car in with Sakkie today for a ECU reprogramming to stock as he believes there is problems with the map... dont know if the map was ever changed though... so i really hope this fixes it all....

and so the problems continues...

landed up not getting much luck with Sakkie and took the car to Gert from ODB Worx last week and he managed to get the map changed... the car feels very different. however the smoking is still there and not very nice... if i clear the errors it comes back with 3 blank errors coded 0093D3, 0093D7, and 0093EC any chance anyone here has seen anything like this ? however if i take the car for a drive and come back they are gone and are replaced by a 005DEC Performance reduction error...

Any help will be grate thanks guys...

are those actually obd2 codes? i cant seem to find any info on them at all...

Found that 005DEC is software related somewhere but yes, those are not the usual 4 digit bmw errors. How did you managed to get these codes and what are you using?

apparently they are HEX values.. from what i've just read, DDE4 onwards uses HEX.. anything before uses decimal values. still trying to find how to decode them to understand what they mean though :screwy:

will post the results once i find them

ok got em:

0093D3 - Coding incorrect
0093D7 - Internal Control Unit Fault
0093EC - Internal control unit fault: incorrect software version

i believe these codes are related to the airbag system..

Hey Trevor,

That ecu has been butchered before bud. I did load the stock file back on it, but what is interesting is that the airbag module is faulty, but does not report the error on the dash.

As I suggested, please get the car to Paulo as the shudder you getting is related to the drivetrain. The fact that the gearbox 'hoots' between gear changes points to busted bearings on the output shaft or that the prop shaft coupling or bearing is a problem.

The smoking is the suspected boost leaks you have. That inter cooler on the car has seen better days bud.

Hi Guys Thanks for all the reply's so far!!!

Gert please don't take this personally i think you did an amazing job really and the car is better hey i mean it... look as for the shudder that we can agree is another problem all together. i am in the process of getting the prop balanced. However when i was taking it out i did not see anything on the couplings, so i tend to believe that your original prognosis was correct... and il need the gearbox looked at but il have a look into that at another time.

For now i am worried about the smoking and the safe mode cos i can really feel the difference when it goes into it. i pulled the complete induction off, from the turbo all the way to the intake. i can't see anything, or any problems at all. but then again i can possible be wrong. Hints why i posted the codes looking for some guidance... but seeing as they are related to the airbag system that we all know is some crazy ass coding on i am back to square one...

i'll try getting hold of Paulo again next week as i have not had much luck to date.

thanks to everyone involved so far and big ups to Gert for his magic as well!!!

No problem dude.

When we looked at the inter cooler we say some oil deposits visible from the front of the car. If you have a gap, remove it and study it a bit more closely. Chasing down boost leaks is a shit job as you have to strip everything to find the issue.

Bud if you have some time over one of the weekends i wouldn't mind checking out the car for you. Im based in midrand tho:coolShake:

And that's exactly how my weekend has gone... iv now taken everything apart cleaned out the inter cooler as well. was shocked as there was oil all around it but nothing in the cooler itself however still gave it a good cleaning... and nothing looked bad or did not fit nice so i am not sure any more.

Found a interesting thing out though... got the car up to 130 on the high way and the shudder started so i took it out of gear and costed along.. and the thing that shocked me was that the shudder did not go away like i expected....

@NikHil thanks for the offer man really i want to try get to Paulo this week for him to check it out but if things dont work out il have to take you up on that offer !

Thanks again to all involved !
