I recently bought a 2009 320d automatic demo with 10k on the odo. I haven't driven an auto for a while, and want to find out something from other 320d auto drivers. I sometimes experience some "jerky" gear changes when driving a slow speeds. I feels like the car is thrown into gear which causes some jolting. It feels like when driving a manual, and you release the clutch to quickly, you get that sudden jolt. Is this normal?

Hey man,

I cant say that freom my experience that this is normal. I have auto as well, and have found the gear changes very smooth, infact the changes are perfect shifts into higher gears.

Sounds like something could be amiss. Best to get it checked up by BMW, since it sounds like you are covered under motorplan. Just be very insistent with them and ask for the service manager to get involved or the production manager.

If you go there, and tell them its a serious problem, they will take it seriously. If you take it in, and tell them by the way......., they will treat it as a by the way problem.

Let us know how it goes.
