Hi all

I seem to have misplaced my sat nav dvd for my 2008 sat nav professional system. I have called the Stealer and they say that in order for them to assist me with the dvd , the car will have to be booked in , in order to be updated ?

is this true ? if so why ?

I have tried a friend of mines dvd of his 2009 model and it works perfectly so what gives ?

All i need is the replacement DVD .

Hi, don’t be so scared. I had an issue with my steering wheel and had to go to them, I was really surprised when I was charged R300 for programming and they had the car the whole day. First ask them what it will take to investigate and they must call you before they proceeds. They cannot charge you if they didn’t do anything. Ps. BMW Clearwater.

Can you not make a copy of the dvd

Thanks for the reply. Its not a matter of fear , just trying to understand why reprogramming Or updating when all I need is the required sat nav dvd disc
In your case I can understand why the steering need programming due to all the sensors that are related to it .

Yip, I requested a quote for updated maps to my HU two weeks ago and their response was pretty much the same. The car must be booked in for the technicians to install. I said I’ll give you my VIN, look it up and provide a FSC and I’ll pay and I’ll install myself with all the risk. They said no they cannot be cause the technician must have the cr there. Doesn’t make sense.

Hi,

the older cars ran the Nav off DVD'S. If you have the part number ask them to quote you on the part number that is on the DVD, or the update on that.
As far as the programming goes, the vehicles with the Hard Drives where the Nav is installed on the HD, need to be updated at the dealer as the software is stored on the servers. I would advise you rather go to the dealer and get one of the technical guys to tell you what you need, but from what i understand all you need is the DVD as you mention you misplaced it. Send a picture of the one you need to the parts guy, hopefully that will ring a bell.
It may be that the parts guy is not experienced on the "older" nav system updates.

Regards
