Hi Forum,

So I've known this for a while but didn't really pay much attention to it until I took my car to bmw for a service. Apparently my car pulls up as a 135is. Not sure what the difference is. It's a 2008 135i. Apparently the s stands for sport and was only in 2008 for the n54s that came with more power according to the bmw service agent. Can anyone confirm or provide more information? Even the bmw print outs show it as 135is on description of the car.
Further research suggests that the 135is is just all m sport bumpers and suspension because they did not have an msport model in 2008.Thanks in advance.

Interesting topic. If I run mine (also a 2008), it also comes up as an IS. However, as far as I know, the actual IS is N55 powered, wasn't released in SA, and is from 2012 onward. Would be interesting to hear if anyone has some local info on it. Obviously our cars didn't come with IS badging either.

Very interesting topic,
So I had a similar experience with my 08 320i Sport Edition, it was a limited edition which the car came with Individual components above the M-Sport spec which was the Individual Colour, Individual BBS rims, and the upgraded motor.
When it checked at BMW, it registered as a BMW 320iS Sport Individual but when i read up on it, the actual 320is was alimited spec overseas which had a different exhaust design, had software upgrade and the same body and interior updates. That car was known as the "iS" homologation model for the E90 at the time however my vehicle was a production spec of it but didnt have the full iS treatment.
Perhaps look via. your VIN and see if maybe your car has a few standard goodies that others did not come with as well?

What specs does your car have? In terms of interior trim and any other extras on the car. I'm not sure if this is standard on the 2008 models but I have the gloss black trims inside and it also has active steering

The 135/335is was sold with the N54 and DCT.
It as only marked as an XXXis in the United States, the only badged 35is we got was the Z4 35is.

So if yours is marked on the VIN as an "is" then im assuming you have the N54/DCT combo, with a little extra boost, (Overboost should take you to 11psi stock, i stand to be corrected.)

Car has the BMW performance aero kit, BMW performance shifter, and aluminium interior trim. I believe (from what the seller told me years ago,) that these bits were all from factory. Having removed bumpers several times, I can confirm that these are OEM parts. No active steering, and it's a 6MT.

I don't think the 135s came in a dct on n54 platform. I think that was for the 335s
