Fuel economy was on highway driving as i use this car traveling for work. Did not realize it MUST be mentioned.
Guess the decat, exhaust, new plugs and a good dyno has alot to do with it, but anyhoo maybe i must get that checked as its definitely incorrect.
If you bought a E46 330i as a investment and a enthusiast car, and that was its sole purpose? Why not a E30 325i or even better 327is or the 333i?
My car was bought for travelling and within the price bracket and looking at a non turbo 4 door with all the features this has it came down to this and a C180 compressor (which i ended up not going for as its also forced induction via a supercharger) I did not even look at a LCI as ones i saw had higher K's on the clock and whats the point in spending more when just the front lights, bonnet, bumper and rear lights are different?
So now that i have justified my car and why i bought it. Instead of selling it broken and loosing money then buying something that might have bigger problems, it is now fixed and smoother than ever.
Seriously dont care if i had to spend 20K now on it as the E90 Msport just looks good, sounds epic (with its burbles with the decat) cruises on highways and at the end of the day . . . Epic car for the price thanks to BMW depreciation.
Ive been on many forums IE, STowners club with my fiesta RSI in mint condition which i wont ever sell, my family wagon Kuga 2.5T. VWclub with my 2.0 8v turbo citi golf and countless bike forums with my 1000RR but never have i asked some advice and it came down to your car is junk and does not meet our standards.
This is sad as there was a oak on here willing to swop his brand new solonoids into my car (Mad respect). . . which my car would have phunked up anyways as everyone was convinced its JUST the solonoids.
Oh wait its the E90 323i that is the problem. . . According to well documented DOCTORS across various platforms on the internet.
I ignored the "swop the solonoids" and all is fine comments.Because by removing the connectors on the solonoids the car idled and ran inconsistently whereas as if it was only the solonoids it will run and idle consistent but just down on power in the higher rpm as the cams dont lift and keep the valves open for longer? My exhaust cam gear was stuck on the advanced position when i first took my car in.
The root of the problem (gunk and sludge buildup, not being a E90 323i) was actually told to me by the mechanic who replaced the tappet cover and i thought he just wanted to make moola.
On the new player that entered the convo, quoting the 6 oil changes in 2 months. . . yep i wish i had the time to respond to all the SNERT you came up with, as the car did not USE the oil, that was to clean all the nasty stuff out. . .
The two links was searched in 2min, that LCI has massive K's on the clock as i stated and my pre LCI with less K's and the condition will sell for the same. On the 330i being a non Msport and he drives a Msport is does not make up for the fact that the trade value will be way less than a E90? Which was his point initially. If at the time i bought my E90 i could have found a e46 330i Msport IN MANUAL if i waited and wanted one right? (or use the internet)? For less if i waited and wanted on right? For less right?
Does it have all the comforts of a E90? nope, Bigger displacement yep, more reliable engine yep i guess but so does a 1.3 carb Toyota. Did i opt for that instead? Nope. More sort after in what way? Performance? That i have a bike for going 2.9s 0 - 100. Reliability? Fiesta never had a single problem since new. Space? Kuga makes up for that. Toy and tinkering? Reason behind the Golf. So for travelling long distances, comfort, safety and hopefully now that its sorted reliability the DEtuned N52 323i will do the job. If not camry it is.
