Considering a 06 530d for a daily drive. I do a lot of highway driving about 120km/day to the office and back.

Car still has some motorplan left and has a sportspack too.

Now I know nothing about these cars. So would appreciate any info/known issues/things to look out for etc.

Do these cars have some major services that cost an arm and a leg like fixed cambelt change services perhaps?

thanks in advance.

Look, it all depends on how it was driven, It does not have a timing belt - no BMW that I know of/have interest in has. They all have chains. My e39 530d is on 283+kkm, on the original everything. Sure, oil, tyres and belts and some suspension parts have been changed, but nothing major. That said, you must think of a turbo as a maintenance item, in any car. It is like tyres - it will wear out eventually and need to be replaced (cost about as much as a set of tyres @ around R10k). Also, modern automatic gearboxes don't last forever, and could give problems when you cross the 200k line. Some give problems earlier, some last longer, it depends on how it is driven. On the earlier E60's, there was a problem with the metal fatiguing one of the boot's hinges or something like that. Oh, and you will have to change control arm bushes somewhere near 100k and most likely shocks as well.

But the lifespan of a car is HIGHLY dependant on who drove it and how they cared for it... I can show you cars with half the mileage mine has that is also in half as good shape...

Cool. The car seems clean and is a one owner vehicle, traded in at Merc. Going to test drive it tomorrow. I'm sure if there are any issues I can still get them done under motorplan.
