2005 X3 transfer case oil leak

Found this morning some oil on the garage floor. Transfer case is leaking from front driveshaft output flange. Was wondering how to get to the seal without having to open up the transfer case and if it is possible to replace it from "outside". Anyone done this before?

Do not worry about responding, have found that the flange just pulls out of the transfer case and the seal is easily accessible. Got a replacement seal here locally and see if the problem is resolved. Did put back the drive shaft to the front diff as that is all that is holding the flange in place!!
