Hi Guys.
I got a qoute of R399 to remove that evil cat on my car and have a box installed.
Wanted to make sure if i need worry obout any sensor issues after the decat is done.
Also, do you recon there would be any power increase?

There would be slightly less turbo lag. It could be perceived as more power. There are no sensors to worry about. R399 is a good price

Thanks P1000.
I dont want extra power from this really. I heard it will bring down temperatures and spare the turbo somewhat?:dunno:

It will certainly do just that, it might also lower your fuel consumption. What mileage is she at?

Would you say install a box or just a straigt pipe.
What are the pros' and cons'?

From what I have read & heard, decatting a diesel will bring turbo temp down therefore save your turbo...

Dont know whether to replace with strait pipe or resonator...

On a petrol, a box is quieter than straight pipes.

On a diesel, not so sure ... maybe someone who decatted an oil burner can comment

i myself have replaced my cats with a nice mandrel bent straight pipe, see here..

objectively the turbo noise is a bit louder than stock, but i think it flows a bit better than a resonator..

so i would say, straight pipe flows abit better, but is a bit noisier,
resonator might be a bit quieter, but flow a little bit less..

i went to back one, but it seems it was already done by the previous owner.(never took the time to check). I still have to go and do the front one at the turbo. I'm gonna have that one disected and replace the emty box.
First priority now is to replace the EGR valve. The car started to smoke like a mofo about a month ago when cold in the mornings and stinks pure sulphar. Any idea on costs?

Did'nt know that. Do you maybe know of a DIY on that somwhere?

HERE is a little writeup. When I cleaned my EGR, I also took off the intake manifold and washed it out as well.

WHere in JHB Randburg / Sandton can I go to have my cat on my 330d hollowed out? A place where they have done it, any recommendations?

OK, i was very sceptical of doing a decat, but finally took the plunge, here's the heads up. Instead of knocking the insides out of my catalytic converter, i had them remove it, in case i ever wanted to put it back :=): this is just me being precautious. Then i thought why not just do the downpipe, this is the pipe from the turbo to the new freeflow box replacing the cat.

Due to me having a E90 320D, a decat would hav been R550, with downpipe it was a total of R1550 at Pro-Fit, Cape town.
